COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: I de enorme karelske skove har der længe været tradition for fremstilling af tjære af fyrretræerne. Som overfladebehandlingsmiddel til de træbyggede huse og både har den spredt sin karakteristiske og intense duft hvor mennesker holdt til. Det sætter sit præg på folkesjælen – og derfor kan man i vore dages Finland sagtens få en ”tervasnapsi” (tjæresnaps) til sin øl på den lokale.
Ambitionen med denne sorte og tyktflydende øl er at fange atmosfæren fra en rygende mil midt inde i skoven, hvor røg, harpiks, skovbund og frisk trætjære danner duftkulissen. Ved brug af en pæn portion røgmalt, Saaz humle, enebær og en speciel finsk tjære ekstrakt har øllet udviklet en distinkt duft af røg samt en undertone af sødlig tjære. Den første mundfornemmelse er ret abrupt og tør, og præget af røg og røget skinke, men den efterfølges hurtigt af blid tjære, sødme og behagelige nuancer af skovbund og enebær. Eftersmagen er lang og præget af fyrrenåle, tjære og den sære bitterhed fra enebærrene. Overgæret.

Draught, 5.1%, KØ11. Mild tar aroma. Black colour. Very small tan head. The flavour is nicely tarry. A lot drier than many German Rauchbiers, but it is very good in a different way.

Sampled at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, smoke and peat. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is smoke. Overall a good and balanced beer.

Small beige head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Smoky earthy tar aroma with chocolate and barnyard notes. Sweetish peppery licorice and earth taste with resiny notes. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry soft minty burnt sooty aftertaste with smoky tar and barnyard notes. Intensely unusual and very nice. (0.1l draft at DBF’11.)

Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, wood, smoke, tar. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110526]

[email protected] BF 2011. Quite much black colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is leathery, yeasty, mild spruce as well as some smoked notes. Flavour is spruce, wood, fruits and some smoked and spices. Pleasantly balanced and rather different brew.
