Damn good beer, you can taste the island of Bornholm (the taste of herring) in the beer, wonderful. A quite unique bitter finish, with a touch of caramel! austinpowers (2832) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 17, 2005
Enjoyed at a street cafe in Roskilde. Absolutely lovely! Lots of floaties in the glass and an odd malt flavor that was engaging. No hops whatsoever - yeah! Rather sweet. erling1000 (782) - - MAR 14, 2015
An unfiltered red brown lager with low head. Aroma is caramel, malty, prune, ripe fruit, maybe a hint of liqourice. Taste is bitter sweet. LoveCaissa (873) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 9, 2002
UPDATED: APR 26, 2006 Wow! This truly is an amazing beer. Beautiful chestnut brown colour, albeit with a quickly diminishing head. Aroma and flavour compliment each other in a very complex and wonderful way: malts, caramel, cappuccino, nuts, etc. All this along with a strange, but pleasant sensation of the Baltic Sea (the sea that surrounds the island of Bornholm) - don’t know how else to describe it?!? The finish is round and medium bitter. I believe this is the best bottom fermentation beer I have ever tasted! raindog (560) - Evansville, Indiana, USA - FEB 25, 2004
Bottle,Thanks Mads: Oarnge/brown with streaming carbonation, bottle conditioned. Thick, creamy, head. Aroma is very grainy...malty,slightly fruity, nutty. Palate is like velvet, with a touch of carbonation.Fairly big body. Delicious, malt flavors.Lots of bread, tobacco, fruit, toffee, nuts. Very fresh tasting. Finish is more clean malts(bready, sweet) with no real hop presence. Extremely tasty beer!

Moderate head retention with copper/maple color. It reminisces of leaves during fall. Aromas perceived are with a malt, caramel, and toasty characteristic. Ripe fruit aroma is considerably noticeable as well with a buttery undertone. Tingling carbonation. Taste is predominantly related to cereal, malts with toasted notes but has an important metallic finish that some might find unpleasant. jongo (85) - Stockholm, Sweden, SWEDEN - JUL 30, 2015
Unfiltered cloudy brown. A must try if you visit the island of Bornholm. A wonderful quite sour taste with some fruityness. Definately a good and refreshing beer. mwesth (279) - Skovlunde, DENMARK - FEB 19, 2004
Dark cloudy amber with a tight white head. Very aromatic: toffee, malt, choccolate, you name it. Taste is sweet, buttery and full. A little more hops, and it would be perfect!
