Bottled. Thanks to Thewolf for the trade. Aroma has roast and coffee with a hint of licorice. Black coloured with a lasting, brown, medium head. Taste is a little sweet, moderate bitter. It has a nice roastiness with coffeebeans, bit fruitiness and some licorice. Well brewed, straight forward. Medium bodied. Nice. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 17, 2007
500. Thank you, Maria! This one’s a surprising little devil--much better than the score would indicate. Black, with a thick, sudsy, tan head. Decent spotty lace. Big chocolatey, roasty, black peppery nose. Medium, rich and creamy body. Nice roast, chocolate, and pepper notes on the mid-palate. Very clean finish. The pepper is what makes this beer really stand out--it’s got life to it, and an almost breakfast-like bracing quality to the rich earthiness that comes with good freshly ground black peppercorns. Quickly departing dark beige head nevertheless leaves more than honest lacing. A profound ashey, liquorice-like aroma bearing a strong fruitiness of dark grapes atop its pumpernickel-like bready base. Its 6.5% alcohol manages to peak through, but it blends in with the previously mentioned fruits and blackberries to feel vinous, yet cerealic enough not to be mistaken for anything, but beer. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Good! fonefan (51064) - VestJylland, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2007
