50 cL bottle. Pours black with huge creamy and light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, faint notes of smoke and coffee with some sweetness and light yeastness. Taste is first dark roasted notes: malt and coffee with sweetness followed by refreshing then good bitter hops. End in a roasted bitter blend. Finish is dark and dry. Good and straight forward porter. I’m not able to identify classic Svaneke yeast notes that normally are distinct trademarks of their beers. Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Almost black, brief beige head. Earthy aroma. Sweet with concentrated flavour of coffee and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel, some molasses hide in a distance. Bitter, almost inky finish. Papsoe (25060) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 17, 2007
UPDATED: APR 8, 2009 (On tap) Black and almost opaque with a reddish hue and a creamy, beige head. Some licorice in the aroma. Fairly full-bodied with a sweetish aroma of roasted malt, some licorice notes and a malt astringency in the finish. But generally a well rounded and pleasant Porter. 110507 fiulijn (20992) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 17, 2007
Draught at Plan B, Copenhagensaxo (18960) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 14, 2007
Black color with a creamy beige head. The aroma is mild, but nice, with coffee notes and rubharb candies (I wonder if they exist in Italy only, though; it’s sweet caramel or toffee, but more sourish). Good body structure, good mix of malt (with it’s sugars) and roasted malt (with their bitterness and light sourness). In the final, there is the sweetness again with the bold, roasted bitterness, and a hint of salty liquorice. Good.
Bottle. Nice big tan head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma is roast malt and coffee. Taste is roast malt, licorice and coffee with some chocolate too.
