Pint from Weatherspoons real ale festival. Bronze colour, haze rose slowly and never quite cleared, one finger head very well retained. Malt aroma, slight hop. Tasted roasted malt and caramel. Finish long and roasted, Doppelbock like. Normal body, fairly smooth, light carbonation, slightly bland but ok winter warmer.
Cask Half Pint – JDW Fest Autumn 2012 - Reddish-Amber in colour. Malty; toasty malts, toffee. Fruity; berry fruits. Syrupy. Hoppy; some hop bitterness. Sweet malty fruity throughout. Dryish finish. Drinkable. (2012-10-27) 20107589 (748) - randers, DENMARK - JUL 8, 2015

Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 24 Oct 2012. Poured a clear amber, with a dense white head. Aroma of sweet malt, berries and SN, plastic-like yeast. Caramel and bread in the flavour, with some dried fruit. Finish was honey, resin and grass. SilkTork (5737) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2014
Oct, 2012. JDW, Portsmouth. Sweetish with some crystal malt notes and a lingering bitterness. OK, but a bit too much like an average Autumn ale. Sigmundflower (9) - Bruxelles, BELGIUM - JUN 28, 2013 does not count
Ottima rossa asciutta gradevole. Schiuma delicata e poco presente. Si beve bene e non stanca.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Deep copper in colour with a tight, off-white head. Sweet, berry fruits, powdered chocolate and toffee, leading to a yeasty, bitter finish. Ok. Finn (7547) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JAN 3, 2013

Complex ale with a sweet malt aroma and mixed malty roasts in a sweet tasting red tinted ale. tombyars (1702) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 19, 2012
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in November 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Very slight note of chewy caramel in the short nose. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Mixed malt base leads to a maltloaf flavour laced with syrupy dates and soft creamy caramel really evident here. This reminds me of a strong version of Caley 80/? definte notes of Scottish export in this. Slight porickle of dusty hop resins present but short in intensity though. Finish is very malty with toffee/butterscotch sweetness coming through in the mouth. This is a really easy session ESB to drink but beware of the ABV though. Well recommended. Cask handpull, The Felix (JDW), Nuneaton, 13/11/12. Soggy, pleasant, cake-like red-bronze affair speckled with lace. Berries, caramel, some red apple aroma. That dank aniseed and toffee hit again. OK but leaning too close to GK/Bateman’s territory and not worth the units.
