I smuggled this back from Florida in April and I’ve had it sitting on a shelf in the fridge screaming at me since then. Pours a curiously murky light brown or dark orange color with a decent tan head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. Well it smells like a barleywine. Lots of dark sugars and dark fruits, some floral and earthy hops, a bit of sweet overripe melon, and a touch of alcohol. I can’t smell any pecans, but I can taste em. The flavor is dark sugars up front with lots of fruits, cherries, raisins, and melons. There’s a solid punch of ethanol and higher alcohols as well as an earthy and resinous hop flavor that lingers long after each sip. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation, and a sweet resinous mouthfeel. Wow this is a big beer, I wish I had seen that before I opened this by myself. Nice big barleywine, the alcohol needs a little time to mellow imho, but its a very flavorful brew, I wish I had another to age. wnoble (1251) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 24, 2012
Pours light brown. Nose is biscuit, caramel, nuts, toffee, earthiness, some herbal hops. Flavor is rich biscuit, toasted and drk roasted caramel malts with herbal and earthy hops. Sweet bitter finish. Heavy body, oily mouthfeel. Light carbonation. This was pretty good. Had a big toasted and bready/biscuity malt character with evident earthiness from yeast, good or something. glad to try. Palidor19 (3193) - Brandon, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2012
has a nice flavor with a touch of nuttiness. the strength of this beer is significant though its very well done in all aspect. it is a bit thin but has a must flavor that significant nick76 (4402) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2012
The aroma is very hoppy with citrus and malty with caramel. The appearance is deep amber with an average head. The taste is like the aroma and astringent. The palate is thin. Overall it’s interesting.

Bottle shared by TheAlum in the GTMW ticket line, thanks Adam! Pours a dark brown with a thin soapy white head, the aroma has a ton of caramel and malt with some bread notes coming through, the flavor was nutty with some caramel and malt in the finish, pretty sweet overall and had a slick mouthfeel, meh. Sample at the Central OH BA Tasting at From The Vine on 06/02/2012: Nearly opaque ruddy orange-brown color with a medium thick off-white head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing. Malt, molasses and dark fruit in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malts and nuts, fruit and earthy hops. The finish is hoppy with some pine and nut notes left behind. Pretty beer all around. PeteInOblivion (2) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUN 2, 2012 does not count
Poured from a 750ml bottle. Poured a murky orange-brown - very short lived minimal head leaving just a hint of lacing. Very little carbonation. Aroma of brown sugar/molasses, pecans, caramel. Tastes of booze, with a really nice mix of sweetness to hop bitterness. After reading so many reviews of high carbonation, I wonder if something went wrong with this bottle, but still tastes amazing. Nice alcohol warming and it grows as it comes up in temperature. Perhaps a bit lighter than a traditional barley wine, but I really enjoyed this beer. madvike (3301) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Bottle shared by TheAlum in GTMW ticket line...thanks Adam! - Pours murky amber with a thin bubbly white ring of head. Nose is big caramel sweetness, big layers of bready malt. Pretty one-note. A little sharp oak on the taste, with pecans, bready malt, and a long sweet finish. Carbonated with a big slick body. Just not my favorite style. jtclockwork (17264) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Bottle thanks to Marco. Pours muddy brown with off white/light beige head. Nose/taste of baked pecans, toasted biscuit malt, caramel, toast, light toffee and hints of citrus. Body on the lighter side for a barleywine. Lots of sweet pecan nuts in the finish. Medium body.
