It takes an award winning Belgian Witbier, a little bit of time, a whole lot of love and, most importantly, a mountain of local blueberries to make our favorite fruit beer, Blueberry Cottonmouth.

Each year, around the end of the Florida blueberry harvest and the beginning of Summer, we meet up with a nice group of local blueberry farmers and bring in a mountain of their bounty… all for one batch of Florida’s fruit beer.

The result is a slightly funky and tart blueberry witbier for everyone in Florida to enjoy.

Pours a hazy golden color with white fizzy head. Blueberries, coriander, yeast, and bubblegum on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with plenty of blueberry and wheat.

Pours a cloudy light golden color. Aromas of citrus/coriander/some blueberry I not big on beers with coriander like tastes. Looked like this one had dandruff.

750ml picked up from total wines and split with the wife on a hot summer day. Pours translucent purple, small white head. Minimal nose. Taste has notes of light clove, yeast. No blueberry translates. Light body.

Pours a cloudy gold from the bomber with fluffy white head that lasts and leaves light lace. Aroma of funky Belgian wheat yeast over slight fruit. Taste is like a blueberry pie over slight Belgian wit. Super carbonated, bubbly and effervescent. Not as bad as the ratings on here, but not great either.

750ml bottle. Yellow hazed pour, lots of yeast, very basic bueberryish witbier, not much to se ehere.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head. The aroma is fresh squeezed orange juice, grass, funk. Thin mouthfeel with nice light funky blueberry and light citrus. Very good.

Sample at first sunday. The wit is muted here and the blueberry totaly takes over but is not overly sweet. Delicate blueberry works well with the base beer. Was pretty entertained with this one. Touch of yeast and slighlty funky aroma.

Medicinal blueberry, just not a good beer at all. I don’t know how you release a beer like this and at the price point it’s at with a good conscience.

suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - AUG 17, 2014
Golden amber colored pour. Small white head. Not much lacing. Aroma is malt and yeast, a typical wit nose. Taste in s the same with a tiny bit of blueberry. Strange that it would taste like blueberries but not have any aroma of them.

With Zach, pours an orange reddish hue with a small head. Nose is grainy and fruity. Taste is a generic wheat bear with some subtle, if any blueberries. Finish is grainy and short. Fair at best ! No next time for me !Quaff Score 5 / 10
