Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of dark roast coffee and light pepper notes over dark caramel and deep roast. Taste is more dark fruit and light peppery coffee, burp up coffee, minimal booze. Not bad. hopscotch (11526) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 17, 2017
Draft... Clear dark-brown pour with flashes of mahogany and small, creamy, beige head. Great retention. The aroma is a hearty fusion of dark chocolate, burnt coffee and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied with soft carbonation. The flavor offers charcoal and burnt-malt harshness. Lingering singed-espresso finish. koleminer20 (4374) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAR 10, 2017
On draft at c.1949. The pour is a lighter black with a thick tan head that falls slowly with a good bit of lace. The aroma is roasty and heavy with a light chocolate influence and a bit of bitter on the finish. This doesn’t smell anything like I was expecting. The flavor is much of the same. The roastiness and dark chocolate are huge. It’s light on every other aspect which is a bummer. The mouth feel is thin and watery with a strong roasted malt and just a hint of dark chocolate on the back end. It’s not good at all. Bummer. Cybercat (6507) - Georgia, USA - JAN 19, 2017
Pours opaque coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Strong aroma delivers roast malt, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel, and quality coffee tones. I’m goin’ Pavlov here! Regal flavor offers roast malt, coffee, cocoa, earthy, and subtle caramel tones. Mouthfeel features decent body, lively fizz, and a sharp alcohol finish. Fit for a Tsarina! UPDATED: NOV 12, 2016 Near pitch Black pour, smaller beige head. Roasted coffee grounds, cocoa in the aroma. Coffee grounds up front, black strap molasses, dark chocolate, fairly bitter. Medium body with some alcohol warming in the finish. Recommend for fans of roasty black IPA.

Swamp Head Catherine’s Passion is one smooth drink that hides its potency well. Expected dark pour with a tan head. Nice coffee and cocoa aroma. Taste has the same coffee and cocoa notes but with a floral quality -- like drinking a good cup of coffee. Finish velvety smooth. Catherine’s Passion is a top-rated Imp Stout. Pours an opaque dark brown almost black like oil with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, raw cocoa, and coffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and thick. Finishes with cocoa and coffee. suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - MAR 9, 2016
Almost black pour. Medium sized tan head. Lacing. Huge coffee aroma. Smells of grounds. A vegetal note. Thin coffee taste. Some slight chocolate notes. Milk chocolate. Overly bitter. Countbeer (6589) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 20, 2015
Bottle: Thanks thrashD: Shaker:
Black beer. Brown head.
Great aroma of coffee, roast, chalk, some hops, dark chocolate, some funk, light cacoa...
Flavour is good roasty with dark chocolate, coffee, bitters, chalk, some hops, malt roast, hints of tobacco, yeast and wood roast...
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, chocolate, coffee and light yeasty.
Low carbo, oily light viscous mouthfeel, between medium and full bodied.
Balanced and very tasty! Delicious! cards04 (2961) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 13, 2015
I found this to be a pretty amazing imperial stout. Thanks Dchmela!! I got none of the harshness some of the other raters found. Thick black pour with mocha head. Aromas of cream, malted milk, vanilla, chocolate, berries. Thick sweet and creamy. Cocoa powder, milk chocolate, a touch of pepper and ash, vanilla, strawberries. Passion indeed. Excellent.
