A dark brown ale with a thin frothy brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with grassy hops, light coffee grind, musty character, pleasant and complex. In mouth, a nice bitter sweet chocolate with fruity esters, light floral hops, grapefruit pulp, woody notes, very nice. Bottle. zgaier (1951) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - DEC 14, 2014
Bomber. Pours a muddy brown with a tan head and hoppy, citrusy aroma. Taste is hoppy and citrusy with pine up front along with nice roasted melt and chocolate notes that go into the finish. Very nice black IPA jjgmd (2164) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - DEC 14, 2014

Deep brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is roasted maltiness, coffee, and resiny hops. Flavor is semi sweet malt start with the roastiness coming through. A nice bitter finish, a touch of which I think comes from the malt. Just a touch fizzy at the end but solid @bp phaleslu (10272) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 7, 2014
750 ml bottle shared by voodoofish65usf - thanks again, Chris! Pours a dark amber-brown with a soft khaki head that laces the glass. Aroma of tobacco, chocolate, citrus zest, pepper, toast, earth, and oak. Chris suspected this might be a few months old, but it seemed more like a year-plus old, like something bad is starting to set in way too soon. Flavor of earth, metal, tobacco, citrus, toast, dark fruit, and tannins. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a thinned, tannic, sweet, metallic mouthfeel. A bit off. Didn’t really work for me. alexsdad06 (10434) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2014
750 ml bottle shared by Chris. Pours a clear cola brown with a large fluffy beige head. The aroma and flavor have a tart, funky thing going on like there is some infection, wood, tannins maybe, but doesn’t seem much like a black IPA. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2014
750ml bottle, thanks to voodoofish65usf. Labeled 6.8%. Brown color. Thin khaki off-white head. Leaves good thicker lace. Chris says he’s had this for a few months, and no date is found on the bottle. Kind of a musty smell in the nose, and a strange soy sauce like flavor in the taste. Light bit of tartness, seems like it’s close to infection. I guess that’s the tannin? Really big tannin on this, if that’s what I’m tasting. No mention of wood though so I’m not sure how that would be... Medium-plus body, smooth, kind of soft texture. Dry finish. Spicy malt. Some roast. Interesting stuff to try. Don’t get much hop from it at the moment. Not a fan of this at all. GreatDane1632 (1169) - North Dakota, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Rated based on notes taken 11 Jan 2014 -- Poured from a bomber. This was a surprising beer, once I read the label of what it is. I tried it and really enjoyed the dark almost roasty malt base this beer had, with a great hoppy nose. On tasting the hops followed through to balance and subdue the malt, but there was no lingering hop flavor. Intriguing and delicious.
