Pour is black with lots of tan head. Nose is light roast, hint of marshmallow, citrusy hops. Taste is sweeter, roast is very light, notes of dark malts, a good bit of citrus and notes of candied sugar. Gets a little sweet, strong carb and a light body. Flavors are a bit muted. Pours dark mahogany with a medium sized tan head. Smells strongly of resinous pine. Taste is woody, piney, with hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Swamp Head Darkwater Floridian Dark Ale finishes with a lingering woody dryness. LuckyDog (615) - - JUN 7, 2014
For me this was a little thin. I couldn’t tell if it was a dark lager our a dark IPA. Tasty, but I expect better from Swamp Head. mtnrcrxc (4) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 27, 2014 does not count

Noticeably different from other black IPAs as mentioned with chocolate wheat rather than roasted grains. Flavor is slight dark fruit, citrus, chocolate, and wheat. Bitterness and alcohol presence are hidden compared to other BIPAs. Tastes great and offers new dimensions to the style deyholla (12037) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear dark brown with a fluffy tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a bit of earthy dark grains with some light fruits, a bit of pine and some chocolate backing. Flavor has a combination of earthy dark grains and pine with a bit of light fruit underlying. This is a fantastic dark ale. It drinks like a black pale ale, slightly hoppy but that’s a good thing. Aroma is citrusy, appearance is black and the mouth feel is smooth. The taste is citrusy and sweet with hoppy bitterness, oh so delicious. This is one of the best dark ales I’ve ever had. Trust me if you try it you will enjoy it.
