I’m not normally a fan of Irish Red beers, but this one is really good. Light roast. Lightly hopped. sebletitje (10059) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JAN 16, 2011
on tap @ Swamp Head / Gainesville FL --- Clear bright dark amber color, white head cover, dots and blobs of lace. Taste is clean malt with a little caramel that adds light hops as it moves through the palate, allowing a little malt to return on the finish. A really nice sessionable brown ale. hopscotch (11049) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 22, 2015
Draft... Pours mostly clear and dark with a burnt-orange hue and a small, fleeting, white head. The nose is toasty, grainy and a hint vinous, featuring sherry or port with a hint of caramel. Full-bodied-bodied with kicked-back carbonation. The malty flavor features a collection of caramel, toasted malt, milk chocolate and a modest measure of minerally bitterness. Fairly hearty and packed with flavor, yet refreshing at the same time. This is the style of beer that lured me from pale lagers and malt liquors to craft beers. In 1992, this malty style, along with dry stouts, amber lagers and brown ales, was about as bold and flavorful as it got in my part of the country. redlight (2318) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2011
on tap @ redlight redlight. Keg labeled Hogge Towne Irish Red. Malty caramel with hints of toast with mild fruity notes in the aroma. Pours an amber red with a thin white head. Malty with caramel flavors mild fruit flavors with a spicy hop presence in the background. Finishes with some lingering fruit flavors but is a nice session beer.

Draft. Pours red/amber with a nice off-white head. Aroma is toffee/caramel, citrus, a bit grainy. Flavor is quite sweet, slightly bitter floral/citrus hops. Finishes slightly bitter and sweet. jjuf1853 (1302) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Draft at the Swamp Head tasting room with the alias Hoggetowne Irish Red. Aroma has a nice mixture of caramel malts and a touch of hoppiness. Pours an amber red color with a medium sized white head. Flavors are straight forward with mostly caramel malt notes and spiced hops in the finish. Aurelius (5294) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 7, 2015
I-75 and Swamphead are the only worthwhile things to come out of Hoggetown. Misty bronze-brown, thin ivory head. Muted malt aroma with some peat and wood. Toasted malt, moderately sweet, lightly acidic, low bittering. Stray cherry tones, and a marshmallow or vanilla extract wants to emerge but doesn’t quite break the waterline. Sweetish finish. Easy drinking. I’ll have to try this again, I may have had a little palate shock after a Victory Storm King. On tap, Brass Tap Midtown. DialSquare (4980) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 26, 2013
Tap at Proof. Cooper pour with thin off-white. Aroma is caramel malt. Tastes are malty, grain, light citrus. Ok. BMMillsy (1788) - Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours hazy dark reddish orange with a small creamy white head on top. Big sweet malt aroma, some cherry, and some earthy grass in the background, but mostly sweet. Flavor is sweet malts and cherry up front as in the aroma, them fades to a surprising burst of earthy and grassy hops on the back end. A lingering dirtying finish on this, but an otherwise drinkable brew. Medium bodied and somewhat slick with carbonation on the low-medium end. Pretty smooth and interesting.
