Draft at PARenFaire. Hazy burnt sienna pour with nose of pumpernickly malt, brown sugar, fig. Tastes malty, with a somewhat figgy, brown sugary mid-palate, mild nutty finishing notes, and a decent body. Smooth. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 19, 2008
Draft @ McGrath’s Pub in Harrisburg. Cloudy dark brown/bran muffin colored body, medium sized toasty brown head. Nose of fresh bread crust and toast scented malts, very light note of roasted malt, medium sweet, medium to low yeast presence but still noticeable. Dusty, bready, minerally malts, medium to low hop aroma. Flavor is full and bready toasted malt, semi-sweet maple flavored syrup, a small greenish celery note but nothing strong or distracting. By no means a traditional altbier, but still decent stuff.
