Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

My first Sweetwater brew. Tackle Box retrieved from Wine World in Panama City Beach, FL on a family vacation. [A] Smells like a blueberry snack cake. Or something around those lines. Some pale and grainy malt whiffs. Not offensive, for a fruit beer. Simple. Delightfully sweet. [A] A very pale yellow with a fizzy white head into glass. [F] Flavor is pretty simple, too. Pale malts. Biscuity. Bueberry is really subdued, which is a great thing to me. Sweetness hangs around. Nothing rancid. [P] Light mouthfeel. Not a big hop bitter, but enough crisp to keep my interest. Decent carbonation. Drinkable. [O] I despise most fruit beers. Haven’t tried a whole lot, because the ones I HAVE tried, totally suck. But this was a nice balance. Would probably make a nice intro to micros. Great summery brew. Beat’s the shyt out of Berry Weiss. Nothing to rave about, but I’ll give it some credit for NOT being the total disappointment I had expected.

12oz bottle. Pours clear yellow-gold with a thin white head. Blueberries are in there, plus wheat, bread, some light sweetness. Light body. Crisp finish. Very light style, think session beer.

One of my favorite beers. Always get this when I'm in the Atlanta area. On paper a blueberry beer doesn't sound like it would be good, but this is a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at Chris & Ruth´s House. A almost clear pale golden beer with a small most good lasting white head. Aroma of blueberries, sweet yellow fruits. Taste of sweet yellwo fruits, sugar, blueberries.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 7, 2017
Sampled on draft at Hugo’s this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy off white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was strong sweet blueberry and yeast. The flavor was bitterish and yeasty with fairly strong artificial blueberry. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

beer_rookie (642) - Arkansas, USA - AUG 1, 2017
Pours a golden color. About two fingers white head. Okay retention, poor lacing. Good carbonation. Maybe slightly cloudy, hard to tell with the aggressive carbonation.

Aroma is blueberry for sure. Blueberry muffin.

Taste is blueberry, but not strong. Slightly artificial. Wheat beer. Simple.

Mouthfeel is medium light body. Smooth, refreshing. Very clean. Highly drinkable.

Overall, it’s okay. Not amazing. Not too much blueberry, but I would say not enough. I would not buy it again, but would not refuse it.

bottled - slight blueberry aroma but major blueberry flavor. Color is clear to cloudy golden. A bit artificial tasting.

16 ounce draft at Winking Lizard Pennisula Ohio. Film on glass Not too foamy. Smell the blueberries. Taste nice and smooth. Faint taste of blueberries. Malty Not very hopped. Easy on the palate. Very drinkable and a little higher on overall ratings.

kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2017
Pours a clear gold body with a small wispy white head. The nose is all blueberry extract with a bit of pale malt. The flavor is much the same, lots of fake tasting blueberry extract with minimal pale malt. Meh. This one rounded out a sampler platter or I wouldn’t have gotten it. Pretty well what you would expect.

pkbites (970) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 4, 2016
Average looking pour. Not as sweet as expected. Rather flat, no lacing. Somewhat lame to tell you the truth. I expected much more from this. On tap.

Cajun (539) - Lafayette, Louisiana, USA - NOV 2, 2016
Bottle - Pours a pale gold with fizzy white head. Aroma of blueberry muffin, blueberry juice. Mild flavors of blueberry bread (pancakes/muffin), juice, mild hops end.
