Bomber. Pours clear copper brown with a lingering white head. Very nice lacing. Aroma is a floral mixture of hops and fruit. The flavor is a perfect balance of floral and citrus hops with a nice backbone of malt. The alcohol bite is subtle and unassuming but no doubt in attendance. If this is an el dank mistake then letís toast to the hope that he makes many more. This would undoubtedly compliment a full platter of spicy nachos or hot wings. Bravo to the lads (and ladies) at Sweetwater. BeeriedEyed (211) - USA - MAR 7, 2012
Such a hoppy brew. 420 is great but this beer has so much more bitterness. Glad I got to sip on it. mintygood (2) - Alabama, USA - MAR 24, 2012 does not count
What an outstanding beer. Certainly one of my favorites. Very hoppy, grassy, dry taste that no doubt came from the 420 line. It is such a shame that this beer is a one of a kind. It will be missed unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - FEB 12, 2012
22oz bottle, blue and yellow label. Dark amber, fluffy head, nice lace. Looks like a 420. Smells like an Imperial 420. Hoppy citrus and pine, sweet pale malts. Aroma of cereal and hops. Yum. Tastes like HOPS. Soapy hop character, lots of fruit, mixed berries, apricot pit bitterness, sharp pine and wooded timber bite. Very hoppy. Period. Oily body. Malt sweetness adds some balance to the overall bitterness. Finishes with a green hop and resinous hop oily character that make me want to take the next sip. Donít plan on tasting anything else after drinking this bottle, unless weíre talking some spicy chili. Hearty, spicy food pairs perfect for this hop bomb. Out of all of the Dank Tank brews, this one has really got me. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - MAR 17, 2012

Name: 420 IPA
Date: March 09, 2012
Appearance: clear copper, fine off white head, streaks of drippy lace
Aroma: sticky sweet pine aroma, sweet crystal hops, fruity tangerine
Flavor: sweet fruity flavor, orange and tangerine, light bitterness offers some balance without obscuring the flavor hops
Aroma: 8/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 8/10; Palate: 7/10; Overall: 17/20
Score: **** /4
Iím not usually an IPA drinker but this is great. Smell is a little off at first even musty, but the flavor is great. It lives up to its name, most IPAís are bitter and leave a bad after taste; but sweetwater 420 is really good and refreshing. If this is your first IPA, it might as well be your last. 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark copper with a thin beige head and nice lacing. The aroma is strong hop notes of pine, resin and flowers. The flavor is very bitter, with nice malt balance. The palate is medium to heavy, a little astringent, and smooth. Overall, this is a great feeling, tasty IPA. elgiacomo (745) - Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, USA - FEB 3, 2012
22oz bottle, fresh release, just came in today. Served at around 45F.

Pours clear amber with a nice three finger off-white/light beige head that leaves nice rings of drippy lacing and holds a small cap.
Aroma is big on hops with citrus, some tropical fruit, pineapple, a bit of apricot, a bit dank, along with some caramel and bready malt underneath. Very good strength.
Flavor is resinous hops, citrus, fruity hops, apricot, fairly prominent sweet malt backbone featuring some caramel and candy, good bitterness on the finish, a bit of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied, a bit oily and sticky, good carbonation.
Yet another tasty Dank Tank creating. An Imperial 420? Yup. Nailed it. Big and hoppy but with a malt backbone to back it up. Incredibly drinkable too...this could get dangerous...
Bottle. Pours a clear amber/orange with a two finger slightly off-white head. Nice lacing. Smell is sugary tropical fruits, resin and citrus and a fresh green aspect. Taste is very big tropical (mango, apricot, mandarin orange, pineapple) with citrus and a big sweet malt component. Mouthfeel was full, slushy and oily. The flavor is so big on the tropical fruits itís almost a fault, but the mouthfeel was incredible for this brew. I say if the exotic hop flavor is your bag then this is a must try. Another great brew from the dank tank series. Suttree (6358) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 12, 2012
I think I got the last bottle in Knoxville. Seems very familiar and yet not so much. Looks, smells ans tastes exactly what youíd expect an Imperial version of 420 to be. So, Sweetwater guys, why didnít you name this "840"? Seems like a no-brainer to me...
