COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Up next, we are crossing borders and boundaries with the latest Dank Tank creation - Border Hopper, with a little help from their friend, Señor Dank, who left his full bodied wife, Lupa, and their eight screaming babies in search of the freshest hop harvest in the land and the promise fields of Buford Highway. His censored journey began in the hop fields of Yakima where he scored some of the stickiest, freshest green hops, found a farmer’s daughter, and ended up in Atlanta where he deals his stash to the boys at SweetWater to create this highly aggressive, censored, and muy fresh double India pale ale. This brew is pushing the envelope as our newest addition to the series of rarely released, experimental beers. The double IPA, brewed with fresh Citra hops, is 8.6 percent ABV, comes in 22 ounce bottles and on draft and is best served fresh. But act fast because this stash won’t last forever. Just like that rash you got in Tijuana, the Border Hopper will be gone just as soon as the next brewing itch needs to be scratched.

On tap at Mac’s Speed Shop Steele Creek. Pours clear dark golden orange with white head. Aromas of grapefruit, tropical fruits, little pine, and caramel malts along with some hops. Flavors of some tropical fruit and citrus with some hop bitterness and caramel malts. Nicely balanced but not overly flavorful.

(22oz bottle courtesy of Fata2683!!). Pours hazy orange/apricot color with white head. Active carbonation. Aroma has some herb (mint?), dank hops, hard candy and some citrus. Taste is sweet malts with some bitterness. Medium bodied with a slick/oily texture. Finish is bitter. I didn’t think I would enjoy this based on the nose, but the flavors are much lighter than expected. The spiciness/mint notes really add a different dimension that I like quite a bit. The alcohol is pretty well hidden also. Thanks Keith!!!

DalzAle (2037) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Bottle. Clear vibrant orange, a little lacing and an aroma of hops a funky earthy orange aroma. Flavor is sweet vanilla, orange, very syrupy hops and finished warming and soapy. Very different than your average DIPA, but worth buying.

GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 1, 2010
22oz bomber. Pours a hazy golden amber with a big fluffy white head that recedes to a rocky collar with little lacing. Aroma is very sweet with tart green apples, spicy belgian yeast and definitely hints of flowers. Taste has a more biting and astringent tartness. Earthy, grassy yeast flavors mixed with pears and the hibiscus. The whole thing had a rose wine character. The mouthfeel is bubbly and effervescent, light bodied and dry and yeasty in the finish. This is an interesting Belgian style beer but it doesn’t come together completely for me. Like I mentioned earlier, tastes almost like a rose wine.

Pours a light amber color with a white head. Citrus hops right away on the aroma with some caramel malts, and some grapefruit. Flavor is loaded with grapefruit. Alcohol is covered up pretty well. Plenty of hop flavor but not overbearing. Nice blend but still strong with citrus.

Gachupines (1252) - USA - FEB 5, 2011
Amber, slightly golden appearance with a thin white head. Aroma is fresh hops and a little grassy. Flavor is hoppy, a little piney with minor grapefruit in the finish. Overall tastes like a slightly supercharged version of their 420. Really like this one, would have again if I can find it.
