COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Up next, we are crossing borders and boundaries with the latest Dank Tank creation - Border Hopper, with a little help from their friend, Señor Dank, who left his full bodied wife, Lupa, and their eight screaming babies in search of the freshest hop harvest in the land and the promise fields of Buford Highway. His censored journey began in the hop fields of Yakima where he scored some of the stickiest, freshest green hops, found a farmer’s daughter, and ended up in Atlanta where he deals his stash to the boys at SweetWater to create this highly aggressive, censored, and muy fresh double India pale ale. This brew is pushing the envelope as our newest addition to the series of rarely released, experimental beers. The double IPA, brewed with fresh Citra hops, is 8.6 percent ABV, comes in 22 ounce bottles and on draft and is best served fresh. But act fast because this stash won’t last forever. Just like that rash you got in Tijuana, the Border Hopper will be gone just as soon as the next brewing itch needs to be scratched.

Pours a golden-amber body with a beige head. Aromas of passion fruit and dark honey. Flavors are grainy, malty, a little boozy, not overly hoppy. This bottle isn’t all that fresh, as I opened it just now. Finish is slightly bitter with some bite. Drinkable, not what I expected.

Bomber, just released a few days ago, nice and fresh. Poured clear, golden with some amber hints. Aroma was a blast of citrusy hops, lots of pine, fresh and juicy. Citra is fitting name for this hop, very nice indeed. Flavors were a bit more toned down although didn’t disappoint, big hop presence. Quite fruity with a long bitter finish. Just a touch of sweetness in there but otherwise no alcohol could be found. I like that the dudes at Sweetwater made a fresh hopped double, first one I have seen and they knocked it out of the park. Nice job.

22oz bottle, last one, at total wine in greenville. pours a hazy, copper orange with a one-finger, whispy white head and a light ring of lace. aroma is very nice, very dank as expected from sweetwater, with sticky hops, grass, pine esters and heavy citrus notes of orange and lemon zest. flavor is damn nice as well with more sticky, sweet hop notes of peach, apricot, and pineapple backed by orange citrus, pine esters, soap and a bit of spice with a bitter, clean finish. palate is medium bodied, bitter, and nicely carbonate with a fruity aftertaste. overall, a very solid effort from sweetwater but i wish i had a bit fresher.

Bomber. Holy mother of sweet hoppy goodness, Thanks Rob! Citrusy grassy causing me to sneeze aromas. Orange, grapefruit, and pine flavors tickle the tastebuds. Overfall a freaking awesome beer. My burps even taste great. Now that’s a sign of a quality libation!

22oz bottle, unknown date (although quite fresh). Pours very hazy amber/orange with a small white head that fades quickly to a ring and wispy cap, hardly any lacing. Aroma is full of citrus, oranges, tangerine, grapefruit, as well as some pineapple and tropical fruit, a little pine, caramel and bread. Very good strength. Flavor follows suit with oranges, tangerine, some sweet grapefruit, pineapple, mango, melons, then a solid sweet caramel malt backbone, good bitterness on the finish with some lingering sweetness from the malt. Tasty. Mouthfeel is medium to almost full, creamy, medium carbonation. What? A citrus bomb coming from Sweetwater? Who’da thunk?!

Similar to their regular IPA, but stronger. A decent amount of grapefruit hop flavor with some sweet earthy malts. Not bitter at all. Medium bodied and full flavored. On the sweet side for a DIPA.

On tap at Perimeter Taco Mac (killed the keg). Poured a dark copper color with a large white head. Aroma is a wonderful blend of citrus & pine hops and a almost fruity aroma as well. The flavor matches with a very nice malty backbone. A nice smooth palate. Very impressed by this beer. Hoping I can find this a the store to get some more.
