COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The biggest farm animal to come out of the SweetWater Barn! We bucked up and threw everything, including the kitchen sink, into this "Jackass" concoction. At 10% ABV and over 90 IBU - You’ll know it when it hits you in the back of the head!

1 liter bottle acquired in trade with jimbowood (thanks!). Poured a deep and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, caramel, and dark fruits. Hoppy. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, pine, and citrus. Light alcohol in the finish.

I am glad I cellared this 1 litre gift from Captain Couger. I think it mellowed, with a bit more balanced flavour from the hops - not in your face from 90 IBU. Initilly a bit sour, then the hops kicks in, a lot of citrus, lots of malt and barley. Very drinkable though not the most complex or impressive barleywine I have had.Big white head on cloudy golden yellow body.

Bottle. Very nice peach, apple and strong malt aroma - only a hint of alcohol. Cloudy reddish amber color with nice big head. Slightly sweet peach/apple and malt flavor up front with a citrusy hops finish. Alcohol well hidden. Excellent.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2007 Bottle... O-Town Throwdown Part Tres ... Hazy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. Sweet, cotton candy and tropical fruit nose. The flavor is sweet, but also moderately bitter and a touch acidic with essences of pineapple and grapefruit rind. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes fruity, sweet and fairly bitter. Thanks for sharing, kp!

Tap at Taco Mac. I liked the older version better. This one looked nice, amber pour...nice head. Aroma leans to the hoppy side while there is a fair amount of caramel and syrup in the nose. I prefer my BW’s a bit smoother and a little less hoppy. This one is still ncie though. Hops offer up a nice bite here and the caramel malt keeps it a bit balanced...but not enough for me.

Score: 3.9 to 4.1

DocLock (10702) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 19, 2007
1L bottle from TheBeerCellar. Thanks! Pours chill hazy medium coppery with 1-finger off-white head that stays arounbd a while, reappears at every repour, and forms nice lacing for a beer this strong. The aroma is huge hops, some hot wafts, and some tropical fruity notes, plus caramel malt. No noticeable heat until the very end, with flavors of heavy hops, tangerine, mango peppery, and malt notes. Indeed, this one is much more of an IIPA than barleywine, but it is great however you choose to pigeonhole it.

1 L flip top purchased and rated fresh(notes). Had many times since. Originally this poured a clear dark amber/copper color with a small beige head collapsing to a thin film. The aroma and flavor had big caramel malt, dark fruits, orange citrus hops some floral notes. Fresh this was an American barley wine for sure. In more recent tastings, original bottles are more sweet malt, caramel, toffee and dark fruits. One of my first purchases once I found this site at my first stop to Bruisin Ales.

Courtesy of Chris. Bottle was aged for about 3 years. Color is amber with thin white head. Flavor is dry and sweet. Aroma of caramel malt and light barley. Could hardly notice the 10% abv.
