COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The biggest farm animal to come out of the SweetWater Barn! We bucked up and threw everything, including the kitchen sink, into this "Jackass" concoction. At 10% ABV and over 90 IBU - You’ll know it when it hits you in the back of the head!

Seems to be more of a DIPA than a barleywine.Heavy hops, big resin, grapefruit and orange. Nice big frothy, off-white head. Color was amber/orange and rather murky. Can’t taste the alcohol ro much in th eway of maltiness. This is really easy drinking. I’ll put some in the cellar and see how they are in a year or two.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2007 1L bottle (which took most of the afternoon and evening to drink). I originally thought this was more of a IIPA when I first had it on draft. However, after having a bottle of this wonderful beer, it does indeed have many qualitites of an american barley wine.... but does cross the line a bit towards the IIPA. Very hoppy, a deep amber color, thin white head that lasts throughout. aromas of hops and pine. thick body with a chewy, bitter finish. wonderful all around the palate. the 10% abv is very well hidden, until you get up. Without a doubt the best beer from Sweetwater.... too bad it is so limited. At least I have another one in my cellar. They could have come up with a better name though...

1L bottle from TheBeerCellar. Thanks! Pours chill hazy medium coppery with 1-finger off-white head that stays arounbd a while, reappears at every repour, and forms nice lacing for a beer this strong. The aroma is huge hops, some hot wafts, and some tropical fruity notes, plus caramel malt. No noticeable heat until the very end, with flavors of heavy hops, tangerine, mango peppery, and malt notes. Indeed, this one is much more of an IIPA than barleywine, but it is great however you choose to pigeonhole it.

Nov. 2007 - Beautiful brown color with really impressive head, especially for abv and beautiful lacing, really nice. Aroma of caramel malt. Flavor was predominantly caramel malt with a faint teabag flavor to go with heavy floral and piney hops and also mild citrus. Near perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Big thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing.

I agree with others that this is more of an Imperial IPA than a BW. The hops in this one are much more previlant than in most BW’s. Very piney, citrus, fresh taste and aroma. Very smooth taste and low carb mouthfeel. High ABV, though alcohol is not very strong in the flavor. Pours an dark amber/orange color with a small white head.

1L bottle from aracauna. The pour was a beautiful amber-orange color, pretty clear, nice frothy huge head, incredible lacing, about as good an appearance as you can get from the style. The aroma was piney floral hops, light citrus, some caramel notes underneath it all. The flavor was full brown sugarey-light tea bags (in a good way), caramel, full resinous piney hops. Mouthfeel was full, yet not sticky. A nice concoction, worthy of being placed among the best of the Left Coast! Thanks, Jacob!

Thanks to Rusty Diamond for the trade--Poured a deep hazy copper-amber body with a bubbly, rocky off-white head. Nose of rich malts and floral, piny hops presence. Candy sweet sugar with a complex, robust finish. Yum!

Bottle. Very nice peach, apple and strong malt aroma - only a hint of alcohol. Cloudy reddish amber color with nice big head. Slightly sweet peach/apple and malt flavor up front with a citrusy hops finish. Alcohol well hidden. Excellent.

In the flip cap bomber from Logan’s Pre-GABF party. Did kp bring this? Orange with a moderately invulnerable head. Tootsie roll orange fun factory aroma. Has a "I just chewed up an orange peel" flavor. The alcohol seems nonexistent as it is so lethal it goes first-pass directly into the hepatic portal vein. Yeah, this is good hooch.

22 oz. bottle same as the Dank Tank #4 bottle as well. Appearance: Pours a light, cloudy auburn with a pinstripe of white foam at the top. Leaves spotty lacing. Aroma: Citrus fruit, rind and oil, pear, peach, and sugary malt. Also a little bit of pine. Taste: Orange, grapefruit, peach, mango, brown sugar, and caramel. Finishes with grapefruit and bitterness. Mouthfeel: Syrupy, juicy, and sticky. Overall: Scary good. 10% + abv, with fruity, candy like aroma and taste.
