COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic American Porter, poured on tap it has a good head that stays and leaves a nice lace. It is defined by its chocolate malt, medium body, and smooth mouthfeel. Balanced by the Golding and Columbus hops on the finish is a hint of bitterness. Don’t be afraid of the dark.

Dark brown color with a tan head. Malt and some fruit linger in the aroma. Sweet taste, fairly malty. Good beer from Sweetwater. Had this with jgb9348.

Deep red-brown (yeah, translucent) body, thin cream head. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate and earthy hops. Chocolatey body is a bit sweet with hints of dark fruit, including a touch of Concord grape, and earthy hops balance. Finishes a bit chalky. All in all, pretty average and nondescript. Thanks to a yet-to-subscribe-to-RB beer drinker for this one!

exodus?? is that some biblical shit they tryin to push on me in my beer?? Aight, well its dark, not black, but whatever comes before black. Kind of an acorn chocolate aroma, light choco at that. The body is thin, however it has good flavor and layers of good malts and chocolates, therefore, its like having a chocolate soda, all the goodness of chocolate, but the light flowing feel of soda.

Man thanks to TheBeerCellar2 for this one. Aroma was almost cloyingly sweet, but also had a bit of roastiness to it. Taste is very sweet, milk chocolatey, and creamy. Has a smooth, herbal metallic finish that I’m not too fond of though. Thick coating mouthfeel. Overall it was good, but I was not overly pleased with it. Anyways, thanks again Matt.

Thanks to TheBeerCellar2 for the bottle as a bonus on our recent trade. Opaque black-brown with ruby edges. Dense creamy light tan head that dissapates quickly and laces the glass rather nicely. Aroma is vinous with light coffee and chocolate. The flavor is quite roasty with less emphasis on hops then malt. Soft mouthfeel with a bit of a bitter bite. Not bad.

Slight smokey nose, smooth caramel taste, quick finish. Very mild in taste and aroma. I expected more.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2004 Pours basically black with a noisy tan head that quickly disappears. Smells like overripe blueberries and stale chocolate grahm crackers. The dark "blueberry" aroma is pretty subdued but's it's there. The flavor reflects those same fruit notes in the flavor, and then continues onto bready coffee notes. Not the good richness of coffee, just the bitter dry parts. There's an oily overtone to the whole taste spetrum that I found distracting. The finish has more roasted malt and bready flavors. The two main flavor components (fruit start and dry finish) just don't work well together for me. This is the 2nd time I've had this beer and I thought I was more impressed the first time.

Small off-white head that diminishes completely. Dark brown body. Has a burnt chocolately aroma, a bit of Oreo type of smell also. Not a ton of flavor or aroma. Tastes a bit like burnt sweet wine + chocolate. It did grow on me a bit, but it was also kind of watery so it could have been better in that regard.
