GABF 2002: Deep dark red-brown. Good head. Rich roasty caramel aroma. Smooth roasty coffeeish flavor. Nice balance. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 25, 2006

Aroma came across a little grassy to me which could have been hops, but thankfully roasty elelments, mildly coffee tinged, do come in shortly after. Reddish brown to dark brown in color this porter sports an initially bubbly head that compresses into pinky thin tan line. Mmmm very nice mildly roasty, but amply malty fore. That is how a porter should start right there. it gets a little "Nut Brown Aleish" there in the middle with some dry and oily peanut skin notes, but gets back on track and finishes with a mildly chocolate tinged, roasty smoothness. Nice one and typically underrated as most fine porters on this site are. ph0tik (92) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 28, 2006
Really enjoyed this beer from Sweetwater. Dark color and light head. Just a hint of chocolate flavor and crisp aftertaste. LtDan (1808) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - DEC 5, 2010
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown with a tan head that subsides to a thin film. No lacing left behind during this session.Guinness4Duff (515) - Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA - FEB 17, 2011
Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla bean and herbal hops.
Taste: Bitter roast, herbal spicy hop, semi sweet chocolate, cocoa, sour cherry and ash.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, prickly carbonation.
Overall: An above average, complex tasty porter.
Bottle. Opaque black pour with a big creamy tan head. Aroma is faint, roasted, chocolate and coffee come through. Big flavor, more chocolate and coffee leaves a nice taste in the mouth. An exceptional porter.

Top notch. The nose is coffee, chocolate, and an intense maltiness. The beer is deep brown bordering on black with a small tan head. The taste is the same as the aroma chocolate with coffee. Delicious. The body is thick with a smooth silkiness. Great. TheJackalope (30) - Georgia, USA - APR 29, 2012
Deep malts and smooth finish mark this Porter as a true epic of brews. Good gravity but not overpowering, great with curried dishes, as those deep malts melt the spices from your palette. This is the most highly celebrated, and decorated brew in Sweetwaters arsenal for a reason. Don’t pass this one up! jackfrost9p (338) - California, USA - FEB 5, 2013

Pours black, medium head that fades quickly. Smells like malt and roasted peanuts. The hops are definately in the background here. Goes down smooth and refreshing.
