It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

Sample from RBWG. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose is pine, coffee, roast, and a boatload of hops. Flavor is similar: earthy, slightly sweet with a shit ton of hops. Finish lingers with more hops. Medium bodied imp stout. Glad I had it, will not seek it out except maybe to age it.

Shared bomber poured to a snifter showing a ruby highlighted, black/brown hue, with a decent layer of brownish tan froth, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose presented some roastiness, with mocha notes, dark fruit as grape & cherry, with a touch of vinous nature. Fairly full in body, with okay carbonation, the taste was similar, with roast & wood, earthy bitterness, and presentable alcohol participation.

Bottle best by 2013 (thanks Brews for New Avenues). 12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is oxidized, with toasted malt and light cocoa. Flavour is oxidized, with cocoa and light roast. Wouldve loved to see what this was like fresh. As is, not good.

Bottle share. This exceeded what I was expecting. Pours a very thick and dark brown/black with a nice sudsy tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast coffee, and burnt malts. Flavor was bold roasted coffee, chocolate, and some burnt malts and light smoke, some leather, and hints of dark fruits. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, a bitter bite on the end.
