Bottle. The pour was a murky very dark brown with a large (2-3 finger) mocha brown creamy head that dissipated slowly down to a few puddles and a foamy collar creating excellent sticky sheeting of lace.
The aroma had a strong pine hop presence, a moderate burnt dark bread malt and an earthy leathery yeast with notes of baker’s chocolate, dark roasted coffee and a good strong dose of alcohol.
The taste was mildly bitter sweet with a nice chocolate note at first and finished rather bitter and extremely hoppy with a decent coffee note at the end. The flavor lasted a good long time proceeding the swallow letting one enjoy the nice hoppy espresso flavor that was left to linger.
Mouthfeel was good and full in body with an oily dry texture and a nice soft carbonation.
Overall an exceptional Imperial Stout with an IPA added, simply delicious...
Sample @ Charleston Brewvival, 2015. Gross name for a beer. Pours deep brown with a small tan head. Gentle toasted grain. Hints of darks chocolate. Light coffee and some herbal anise accents. Shared bomber poured to a snifter showing a ruby highlighted, black/brown hue, with a decent layer of brownish tan froth, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose presented some roastiness, with mocha notes, dark fruit as grape & cherry, with a touch of vinous nature. Bottle best by 2013 (thanks Brews for New Avenues). 12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is oxidized, with toasted malt and light cocoa. Flavour is oxidized, with cocoa and light roast. Would’ve loved to see what this was like fresh. As is, not good.

Bottle share. This exceeded what I was expecting. Pours a very thick and dark brown/black with a nice sudsy tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast coffee, and burnt malts. Flavor was bold roasted coffee, chocolate, and some burnt malts and light smoke, some leather, and hints of dark fruits. Pours an opaque dark brown almost black color with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, raw cocoa powder, and some light toast on the nose; follows onto the palate.
