Draft from Taco Mac Cumming. Pours a clear golden color with medium white head and decent lacing. Smell is light citrus, but does not bring the expected big rye spiciness that I would expect from a rye brew. Which in my opinion is not a horrible thing. There is also a pleasant sweet malt aspect. Taste is again mild citrus with just a hint of the rye edginess, but really comes out as a clean crisp and refreshing brew. The rye doesn’t really shine, but this turns out to make it a really nice summer drinker. Quite different from its Georgia breathren at Terrapin. Bottle - courtesy of GandGKevin. Thanks! Murky amber pour with a medium, foamy white head. Aroma is spicy hops, citrus fruit, floral hops and light caramel. Taste is big spicy hops, rye, light caramel, sweet malt, floral hops, citrus fruit, tropical fruit and light earthy hops. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more spicy hops, citrus fruit, dried tropical fruit, caramel, sweet malt, and floral hops. Nice! DukeBrewDevil (732) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - OCT 25, 2012
Bottle. Golden color with a big soapy white head. Nose is juicy hops and wet grass. I don’t get any rye in the flavor, just lots of nice sweet, floral hops. Those hops continue into the finish, which then mixes in some peppery bitterness, and only a faint hint of rye late in the finish. It feels overly flat in the mouth. Otherwise, a nice IPA. Bottle. Good citrusy hop nose. Light, clear orange/brown color. Very hop forward initial / balances in mid palate (maybe just a bit too sweet), and then some good pepper emerges / hop hits in final, with a slight burn in aftertaste. Easily the best beer I’ve had from Sweetwater bubbleflubber (2227) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2013
What a nice surprise here. Pours orange-amber into the glass, with an eggshell head that reduces to a thin cap, leaving chunky lace. The nose is floral and woody, with rye accents. Flavors are extremely well-balanced, a nice dollop of rye, pale malts, nice orange citrus, some rind/peel notes, and finishing with the peppering rye and floral bitters. Again, the balance is very well done, with a smooth and active mouthfeel, providing an extremely easy quaff. Good stuff here, and I’m very glad to have picked it in my mix-’n-match. Will definitely have again. Patrickctenchi (6586) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Pours hazy, orange-yellow with a thick, off-white head.
Aroma is orange malt, rye.
Taste is citrus and a substantial rye.
Earthy/herbal hop bittering.
Very nice. floydslip (398) - Washington DC, USA - APR 4, 2013
Murky orange-brown beer with a creamy head. Hoppy scent with hints of pine. Initial flavor is bitter without being overly so, which then develops with a pleasant sour complement, and finishes with slight citrus. A good IPA that does not overwhelm with hops. BluePhish (93) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 30, 2013
Pour is clearish orange with small white head.
Aroma is oily citrus hops and light cereal malt.
Taste is lightly malty at first quickly ramping to more and more hoppy and finishing with a nice rye bite.
Nice level of carbonation and weight on the palate, slight alcohol bite.
Overall very drinkable, enjoyable, and probably my favorite sweetwater.
