Road trips are balls-out adventures loaded with unexpected twists, just like when this beer hit black ice and got spun!. It started out as an IPA recipe, but halfway down the road it blew a tire and a Pilsner yeast was pitched as a spare; an IPP yo! The fiery Pilsner backbone adds a nitrous-like boost to the van load of hops that would make any German pucker up when those hop afterburners singe their lederhosen!

Brewed with a Lager yeast at Ale temps using Sterling hops and Pilsner Malt to make this a crisp and hoppy twisted up seasonal treat.

Bottle from emacgee. Chill hazy medium gold pour with 1-finger whitish head. Aroma of bready, somewhat funky pale malt, hopcitrus. Tastes pale malty, with spicy floral notes, mild funky yeasty hints, and hopcitrus in the finish.

Bottled. Poured clear brighter golden with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet, dusty lemon zest and bready notes with another layer of lighter fruit behind.. on the softer side overall, and nothin’ wrong with it. The flavor was quite hoppy with lemon and floral notes primarily.. sweet bready notes and a bit of caramel beneath.. medium-long sharper bitter finish wasn’t so enjoyable. Lighter-bodied, sharp, and rather out of balance on the palate.. didn’t care too much for this.

I guess there is a Sweetwater Brew I don’t care much for.... The 420 is one of my favorite session beers. I think I would rather drink a coors than this, just based on the cost. Not a fan of the aftertaste of this one... at least with coors you just have basic beer... this is too swanky...

This blonde ale pours a yellow gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is sweet and a touch citrusy. A light to medium bodied blonde ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are mild (well a lot for a blond ale) but kind of citrusy. Good flavor. Nice session ale. Not complex, but nice tasting and easy drinking. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is mostly sweet woth a touch of hops.

bonus via trade. Pours clearish yellow with a 2 finger bright white head. Nose is very minorly hoppy with some floral notes. Taste is pretty unappetising, perfumey and off hops. eh.

goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - NOV 6, 2007
Poured a clear golden color with a small white head. Floral, grainy and sulfury aroma. The flavor also had sulfur and grain with a fairly dry moderately bitter finish. Light-medium body.

on tap-pours an off white head and yellow color. Aroma is fruit-apricot, light malt, musty, perfume. Taste is fruit-apricot, light malt, musty, perfume, secondary/faint hallertau hops. Smooth.

not a fan. it’s kind of lemon-y but it had some other weird taste that i couldnt’ quite put my finger on. maybe it’s the grass, i don’t know. but i wouldn’t drink this again. thanks to shag anyway

I just didn’t like this. Not enough going on, and what WAS going on wasn’t all that impressive. Poured golden, small white head. Nose is grassy, a bit hoppy and lemony. Taste is just kind of funky...slight notes of mint were interesting, but didn’t help. I’m generally a Sweetwater supporter, but I won’t get this again.

Shag (3000) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - OCT 21, 2007
This beer poured a light golden color with a moderate white head. The aroma consists of perfume and lemons. The flavor contains some lemons, vanilla, and grassy notes. A bit of a spicy finish. Overall this is a good session ale/lager just dont look for anything complex.
