4-5 oz pour on draft at Sweetwater Tavern Merrifield, part of the sampler flight. Dark brownish black with beige head. Aromas of chocolate and roast. Tastes of milk chocolate, roast, caramel, coffee. Tap. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a minimal wispy light brown head. Decent nose, albeit fairly light, some coffee and roastiness. The flavor is a little thin as well with some light coffee. No real oat character save for a bit on the finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied and a touch thin with soft light carbonation. Draft. A dark pour produces a good frothy head and scattered lacing. Chocolate stands in this one with oatmeal, coffee and toasted grains following. Mild roast just to let you know it’s there. Creamy, light, and easy drinking. Nothing earth shattering but pretty good stuff.

Tap. Poured black with a beige, lacing head. Ash, roasted malts, burnt wood, hints of plum and raisins in the aroma. Fairly light body with high carbonation. Dry, roasted aftertaste. On tap in Falls Church. Light roasted notes. Chocolate and burnt character. Good sharp bitter nose with underlying sweetness. Molasses, lactose. Dark brown black clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts and stays sweet with licorice and chocolate, roasted malt and light bitterness. Mild acrid smoke and burnt patent at the finish with decent bittering. Served on draft at the Merrifield location. Pours a very dark mahogany color appearing black in the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke and oats. Very dry taste with notes of nuts, lactose, slight roast and very slight fruitiness. Bitter hop finish. Medium bodied.
