A dark lager with a little bit of smoke on the nose and palate. The hickory is balanced out by the beer’s yeast, which is bready and rich. Clean finish, a drinkable dunkel that borrows the best elements of a rauchbier without overdoing the smokiness. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 20, 2010

At Falls Church location. Pours a pretty dark color (almost black) with a medium, fast dissipating head. Notes of smoke and a strong roasted malt aroma. Flavor is malty, roasted, *much* better after allowing the frozen glass to warm up after about 20 minutes.
