On tap GABF ’02: Black/ruby color with a small but firm head. huge lovely toasted, roasted aroma. Then when I drank it, the beer fell apart. Weak watery body, light unpleasing taste. kathouse (1893) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - SEP 16, 2004
A deep, dark brown with thin tan foam. Smells of roasted malts and toffee. Nice roasted flavor balanced by a medium bitterness and a long aftertaste. Surprised by a thin mouthfell and low carbonation. Could have rated higher. TheBeerGod (6224) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - MAR 28, 2005
Grolwer. Black bodied with a huge fomay brown head. Nose is coffe, roasted malts, dark chocolate, light woody notes, and vanilla. This is not unlike Dominion’s Oak Barrel Stout from the bottle. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and light cocoa. Body is smooth and fully carbonated. Very pleasant feel to it. Finish is roasty malts, chocolate and burnt coffee. Light bitterness throughout. Good stuff! Travlr (24825) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Draft. Dark brown, small briwn head with poor retention. Aroma of milk chocolate and Starbucks. Taste is similar. Not bad for 4 point something. JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - JUL 11, 2003
Almond colored head with, very dark body. Smells of brown sugar and coffee. Good, lavish feel in the mouth. Malt wraps the tongue like silk, leaving behind molasses, chocolate, and maple flavors. Sweet finish with no drying. Coffee lingers Not much alcohol taste either. Fine brew.

Opaque black with ruby edges. Small frothy tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, nutty with a bit of cocoa. The flavor is much more assertive than the aroma, lots of roasted malt with coffee and nuttiness playing the predominate parts. The body is medium and dry. A decent dry stout. jasonp (1581) - Ashburn, Virginia, USA - OCT 24, 2004
Pours black with a small, quickly fading brown head. Aroma is lightly roasty, that's about it. Taste is moderately sweet with notes of roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate. Slightly burnt and bitter aftertaste, dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Solid, but not really memorable. MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - MAR 14, 2004
Dark, when helf at an angle a bit of red light shows through. Nose roasty and a bit fruity. Roasty and bitter, some coffee and burnt wood. MullMan (1099) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAR 18, 2006

Tap at Sterling. Poured a dark brown, with a light brown head. Looked a little creamy. Aroma was light, of coffee and chocolate. Flavor was mostly roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate hints. Have had better of the style.
