(33cl bottle, as Hofgrobberke 2007, Lentebier, 8.0% abv) Cloudy, orange colour with yeast flakes swimming around and a short white layer. Sweet bready malty aroma with strong spicy notes of ginger and pepper. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied, slightly fizzy carbonation. Malt-accented base yeasty and light-fruity taste with spices getting stronger towards the sweet and bready, also pretty alcoholic finish with shades of herbal hops. Imo not particularly rounded and a bit too spicy (07.IV.09). Yves (3096) - Turnhout, BELGIUM - JUL 20, 2009

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Ask, Jes, Jens and Rasmus. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Dry wooden and yeasty aroma. Flavour is mild yeasty and mild roasted malty, surprising malty really. Yeasty and malty finish with subdued spiced note, wooden and mild dry into the far finish. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 21, 2007
(Bottled, 2007 version, 8% ABV) Hazy golden (muddy light brown with yeast) with a smallish-medium head. Pretty grainy-malty, sweetish and caramely aroma with cardamom. Likely grainy cardamom flavor. IMO, it tastes pretty much like spoiled, but maybe it’s supposed to be this way after all. Yeast softens the flavor a bit, but it remains very grainy, spicy and a bit ashy. Medium-bodied, quite foamy-carbonated palate. Definitely not a beer for my liking.
