Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy and a little dry. Very mild airy dark malts, touch of roast and a whisper of cream. Light piney hops with mild floral bitterness. Light finish. Not bad but needs more backbone.
Many thanks Doberd for this Beer. Schwarzes Bier mit schöner großer bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr herb fruchtig nach exotischen Früchten, minimal röstmalzig. Geschmack röstig, Schokolade, Kaffe, fruchtig bitterer Abgang. Leighton (22773) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2014
Bottle shared during Black IPA night in London - big thanks to K-Bird. Pours clear, deep brown with a thick, frothy beige head. The aroma holds dry cocoa, burnt wood, moderate roast, earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with bitter scorched earth, baking cocoa, mild burnt meat, toasted pine. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. More earthy bitterness to finish, some bittersweet chocolate, mellow alcohol, lasting roast, charred wood. Slow starter but strong finisher. Good beer. Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Roast, licorice, grass and grapefruit in the aroma. Firm roast and hopbitter flavor with licorice, citrus, white pepper and grassy notes. Flavors come and go and do not Always get together well. But this is a nice beer. jmgreenuk (10325) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAR 5, 2014
Bottle from the BierKoning, Amsterdam. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is grassy hop and light roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a lovely smooth spicy pepper grass hop malt palate and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Perhaps the best beer I’ve had from ’t IJ. deanso (10261) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - JAN 28, 2014
