Fantastic aroma, and mouthfulls of flavour, fom a draft measure in brewery tap. Better than the ipa. fkoolen (1213) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - MAR 18, 2014
Beautiful bottle. Deep dark brown colour, big foamy beige head. Surprisingly sweet hoppy nose with citrus fruits, strawberry but also some porter/stout tones to be distinguished like (roasted) coffee and cacao. These tones come back in the taste with mainly sweetness and citrus hops in the mouth and a roasty, dry aftertaste: near perfectly balanced, surprising and complex. Firm body, relatively high carbonation but very drinkable with a pleasant mouthfeel. Definitely a beer I’d recommend. androman (2322) - Maarssen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 11, 2014
On tap @ Brouwerij ’t IJ. Black color, strong brownish head. Aroma cannabis in the nose, smoked malt, roasty, toast, ash, slight coffee and dark chocolate. Taste light sweetness, heavy bitterness. Full body, very dry, soft carbonation, very bitter finish. Very delicios and a good black IPA. JulienHuxley (5807) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 20, 2014
Bottle from Bierkoning. Pretty, opaque black pour with thick lacy tan foam. Aroma is really hoppy, nice citrusy, grapefruit aroma, some peppery hop aromas as well, light piney/sprucey notes, light roasted malt. Taste is bitter, mild bitterness for a black IPA. The roasted malt is kept well in check, no acrid flavors, really fruity, citrusy hop flavor. Palate is med bodied with light-medium carb. Very nice. mike_77 (6661) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - FEB 2, 2014
Really smooth, silky texture. Aroma and taste have green, fresh hops and slight roast malt. Has a level of alcohol and balance of flavour which makes it worthy of repeating.

33cl bottle at home. Dark brown, almost black with a medium beige head. Medium body with lively carbonation. Sweet with a dry hoppy finish. Coffee, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, some brown sugar and wood. A quality brew from ’t IJ. Christos (5766) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - FEB 19, 2014
Bottle 330 ml at home, into a tulip. ABV 6.5%
A very darkbrown coloured beer, with two full fingers of beige, thick head sitting on top, taking its time to collapse. After quite a long time what remains is heavy lacing on the glass and a thin line of foam on the beer’s surface.
Very hoppy aroma, with grapefruit and orange peel upfront, while from the back aromas of roasted malts and dark chocolate are blending in.
Taste is also a blend of citrus fruits, orange peels, grapefruits, roasted malts, more coffee and less chocolate, with a nice and quite intense hoppy bitterness, traveling all the way to the aftertaste, where it lingers for a significant amount of time.
Medium body and good carbonation, with a bite on the tongue, just as much as it needs.
Overall a very enjoyable beer.

Bottle 33cl. Black as night, generous foamy brownish head, collapses slowly, good lacing; aroma at first very fruity, vinous, cherry syrup, followed by roasty, coffee, floral, spruce, herbs, smoky, licorice; malty and dry bittersweet taste, kinda coffee bitterness; full body, creamy texture; dry bitter finish, spicy/herbal undertones. Stoutlike beer, another good one from ’t IJ. Borresteijn (7053) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 18, 2014
