COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

Had my first Natte about 30 years ago, shortly after the brewery’s opening. I didn’t have this in my RB life though, until now. 33 cl bottle @ De Waaghals, A’dam. Mostly clear ruby brown. Light beige head, dense, with good retention. Aroma’s: sweet, fruit, yeasty, a bit banana. Flavor is moderate sweet with light bitterness. Medium bodied. Finishes yeasty, moderate bitter. Still quite nice, but of course I liked it a lot more 30 years ago.

Red beer, No Head. Hoppy, malty, light roasted beer. Lasting sweet aftertaste. Reasonable good mouthfeel. Indeed nicely balanced. Not as sweet as Most dubbels.

Vom Fass. Bernsteinfarbenes Bier, kaum Schaum. Schöner Duft nach roten Johannisbeeren. Antrunk etwas Holz und Malz. Dann kommen rote Beeren. Sehr süffig. Sanft bitter im Abgang.

Zlotta (3412) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JUN 30, 2016
0.33 l bottle from local AH, best before April 2017. Deep red with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, some nuts, a touch of chocolate and a bit of raisins. Sweet and a malty taste of caramel, nuts and some chocolate as well as hints of raisins and honey, followed by a rather short, slighly bitter, a little roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not that deep, but at least well-balanced and quite tasty.

una buona dubbel, ambra rossastra con buona base maltata, intensa al naso, giusta carbonazione
