After the ‘Zatte’, this is the oldest beer from Brouwerij ‘t IJ. Natte is classed as a ‘dubbel’, a Belgian category of smooth, dark beers. Because we partly use dark malt, Natte has a reddish-brown colour and a smooth, roasted flavour with earthy tones of brown sugar, nuts and plums. Completed with slightly bitter hops, this is a nicely balanced beer and one of the brewery’s classics.

330ml bottle in great company with Hege and OleR at Håndverkerstuene. Amber coloured body with a ruby tint. Diminishing grey-white head. Poor lacing. Aroma of dark malts, mid-sweet, and herbal hops. Peaches, plums and caramel malts in flavour. Sweet and bitter to the finish. Well balanced and fine with the lamb (Oslo, 15.09.2012).

From bottle. Pours ruby-brown with beige head that won‘t stay long. Malty aroma. Flavors are more complex combining malts, some fruit and a hoppy/spicy sting that makes this a very interesting brew to have.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2017 Tap. Cloudy amber brown with small beige head. Burnt sugar, caramelized malts, dried fruits peaking through for smell. Taste follows the nose. Medium body with medium carbo. Okay beer.

Old rating from 2010. Deep yeasty smooth beginning. Nice fruits, herbs and spices. Great depth, yeast, round and nice.

A nice double with a very thin head. Sweet malt notes and hints of caramel and butterscotch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Very dark reddish brown. Seems clear. Some off-white head.
Aroma: Dark fruits, some malt, sweetness.
Taste: Light malt, lots of dark fruits. Caramel sweetness. Odd. Dubbel?

Bottle at home. Deep red/light brown color. Beige head, disappears. Taste is a bit flat for a "dubbel", that also goes for the aftertaste. A bit disappointing.

Bottle in Amsterdam airport. Quite offensive but better than Heineken. Dark brown, clovey. Decent alcohol level.

Bottle from a beach tent in Kijkduin. The summer of ’17. Poured a hazy medium brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is sweet malt, toffee caramel, light fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, rich, sweet malt, fruity hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

MarkoNm (2933) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - AUG 14, 2017
On tap at brewpub. Hazy coppery amber color, topped with medium creamy off white head. Quite yeasty nose with some malty back. Tsste is sweet malty with caramel and some yeast in finish. Medium body with smooth feel.
