3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap from ’t Ij brewery. Second batch of their IPA. Not your tipical IPA. Less crispy and hoppy than anticipated. More sour or acid. The hops are more for the aroma than the flavour. The yeast brings it closer to the other ’t Ij brews.
Draught at Arendsnest. madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - OCT 1, 2012
Cloudy golden colored with a small white head.
Fruity aroma of hops, basil, pine needles and citrus.
Fruity flavor of hops and caramel with notes of citrus and pine needles.
Dry hoppy finish.
Bottled. Amber coloured. Dense beige head. Aroma: sweetness, flowers, caramel, pine. Flavour: herbs, flowers, pine, caramel and light fruits. Medium to full bodied. Ends herbal bitter. yespr (48115) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - SEP 29, 2012
33 cl bottle at Arendsnest. Pours hazy dark orange with a thick rocky head. Aroma is fruity and crisp hoppy. Bitter, citrusy and peachy. Ligering grapefruity hoppy too. Ends bitter and dry. stimulo69 (81) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2012
barnyard, ginger, cooked vegetables, golden, hazy, rocky head, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, medium body, creamy, lively, bitter, Benzai (16768) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - MAY 7, 2012
Aromas of an unhappy yeast lots of beans, ginger and other strange componenets. In taste quite some bitterness but very low on hop caracther. Not the worst beer but not a typical IPA
Sampled from bottle @ KBC Den Bosch 2012. Hazy orange color, large rocky, mostly lasting, good to excellent lacing, off-white head. Smells light to moderately malty, moderately hoppy, notes of flowers, herbs, orange and mango. Taste light to moderately bitter, orangepeel and a sharp fruityness. Moderate to heavy bitter finish. Medium carbonation, medium body. Decent.

On tap @ ’t IJ. The aroma has a lot of yeasty tones, citrus, some malts. Hazy, orange coloured beer with a slight off-white head. The taste is slightly bitter, has some malty sweetness, yeast, citrus, mango. Not what I expect from an IPA, but anyway, it is a really enjoyable, well made beer. Keg @ ’t IJ. Hazy dark golden colour, medium white head. Nose is yeasty, bit hoppy and fruity, with oranges. Flavour is yeasty, bit hoppy, orange, maybe hint of coriander. Slightly bitter finish. Enjoyable. jess_scott15 (45) - - JAN 21, 2012
Pours a hazy orange color with thick white head and medium body. It is not as hoppy and crisp as an american style IPA and seems to be lacking something. ads135 (5053) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 21, 2012
One of the worst offerings by ’t IJ, I’m sad to say. Took the brewery tour and was told that this was in keeping with an American tradition of IPA brewing (even using American hops), but this seems more similar to British variety. lacks the sharpness of a proper Am. IPA or even a decent Pale Ale. Nice color and aroma, though. Borresteijn (7521) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 15, 2012
On tap at ’t IJ, ABV 8%. Never thought they’d make this again, nice to see this on our brewpub-crawl. Slightly hazy golden orange colour, thick white head. Aroma of crisp hoppiness, light yeasty, citrus, some mango, caramel. Flavour is medium sweet, flowery, malty, nice tropical fruity citrus bitterness, decent hopbitter finish. Medium bodied. Call me a homer, but I liked this one a lot, one of the better IJ beers and one of the cleanest as well imo (although that doesn’t say much).
