COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly called ’t IJ Scharrel IJwit A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

Sigmund (7230) - Tau, NORWAY - FEB 23, 2011
Bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, not as pale and milky as other witbiers, big to moderate white head. Nice aroma and flavour of coriander, cloves and orange peel. Very drinkable, despite its higher ABV.

ALLOVATE (2981) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 14, 2011
Tasting from Feb’ 2008.
Into a chalice, chilled. Presents a hazy, pastelly orange with a few globules of protein in suspension. Firm, inch thick pad of white dons it and leaves behind some messy lacework. Caramel, rough woody notes, nail polish remover, spicy navel oranges and lychee make for an interesting aroma profile with a showing of what must be the house yeast found evident in most of their beers I’ve tasted. In the mouth it is slightly rough, a big yeasty bite, hairy and piney, mildly acidic. Good level of citrus fruit with navels again apparent. Unsalted peanuts in the aftertaste along with more yeasty notes and drowned citrus. Medium bodied, firm mouthfeel, quite smooth in the back. Overall a strange beer that pulls it off for all the wrong reasons. Keeps the interest at least. (33cL, BBE 09/08, The International Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Quack-Duck (9369) - Down South, GERMANY - DEC 15, 2010
bottle. Hazy brown-golden colour, large white head. Spicy-fruity nose. Rather full-bodied for a witbier, very solid malty base with lots of spices and hops. Dry palate. Very nice, unusually "heavy" for the style, but in a very pleasant way.

Bottle: White foamy head on top of a light hazy yellow colored beer. Smell fruit, wheat, spices, hops, light flowery and yeasty. Taste is a delicious white beer: wheat, fruit, lemon, hops, citrus, flowery, bitter, spices, some yeast and malts.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is hops, lemon, some spices and herbs, weird sidenote. Flavour is medium bitter, nice lemon note, faint spices and herbs. Nice one, even on a dark winter night, must try it again in the summer!
