COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A prize-winning beer that we brew specially for De Bierkoning. The fruity, bitter hops and lightly roasted malt complement each other perfectly in this light brown beer. These flavours are accentuated with a little coriander to produce a full aroma of flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel. An irresistible beer that was crowned in the Brussels Beer Challenge with a silver medal in the Herb & Spice category.

Vlo stands for Vodden, Lompen en Ongeregeld (translates a bit as rags, bags and bums).

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dror’s place. Thanks Yoav. Hazy golden with white head. Sweetish aroma with notes of honey and date honey. Sweet flavor with notes of yeasts, honey and some spices, bitterish. Medium-bodied.

MelvinKalksma (1719) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2016

Aroma:
Slight aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, orange and spices.

Appearance:
Hazy/turbid amber/orange beer with a slight/medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast and orange; ends slightly dry with spices.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. The aroma was.. nothing really and the palate was so-so.

33cl bottle at the brewery tap-room on 09-Apr-2016, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Clear dark amber colour with a small white head which disipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast and sweet malt. Light bittersweet flavours of spices, malt and fruit. Feeling more of a Belgian style pale ale than a Belgian Strong ale, but great anyway. This one’s a winner.

Floral!!! Ja das kommt mir beim Genuss dieses wundervollen Bieres zuerst in den Sinn. Für ein BSA extrem hoppy & samtig. Klasse. Kleine Flasche im Cafe De Koffer zu Groningen. Ca. 4 Euro

0.33 l bottle from ’Sterk Avondverkoop’, best before February 2016. Clear, orangeish amber with a huge, dense, almost stable, tan head. Sweetish, fruity-spicy aroma of coriander and peach with hints of honey and vanilla. Sweetish, fruity-spicy taste of peach and coriander with hints of honey, caramel and vanilla, followed by a crisp, medium bitter finish with hints of licorice. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very nice! But you really need to like coriander and peach, otherwise you’ll hate this beer.
