A prize-winning beer that we brew specially for De Bierkoning. The fruity, bitter hops and lightly roasted malt complement each other perfectly in this light brown beer. These flavours are accentuated with a little coriander to produce a full aroma of flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel. An irresistible beer that was crowned in the Brussels Beer Challenge with a silver medal in the Herb & Spice category.

Vlo stands for Vodden, Lompen en Ongeregeld (translates a bit as rags, bags and bums).

MelvinKalksma (2010) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2016

Slight aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, orange and spices.

Hazy/turbid amber/orange beer with a slight/medium off-white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast and orange; ends slightly dry with spices.

This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. The aroma was.. nothing really and the palate was so-so.

PhillyCraft (8547) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2016

R4N5H (1449) - NETHERLANDS - APR 9, 2016
33cl bottle at the brewery tap-room on 09-Apr-2016, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Clear dark amber colour with a small white head which disipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast and sweet malt. Light bittersweet flavours of spices, malt and fruit. Feeling more of a Belgian style pale ale than a Belgian Strong ale, but great anyway. This one’s a winner.
