A prize-winning beer that we brew specially for De Bierkoning. The fruity, bitter hops and lightly roasted malt complement each other perfectly in this light brown beer. These flavours are accentuated with a little coriander to produce a full aroma of flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel. An irresistible beer that was crowned in the Brussels Beer Challenge with a silver medal in the Herb & Spice category.

Vlo stands for Vodden, Lompen en Ongeregeld (translates a bit as rags, bags and bums).

Bottle 33cl. @ home.
Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, spices, moderate hoppy, grass, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (300608)

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a huge white head. Spiced and herbal aroma, not good and uninviting. Flavour is nice malty with a nice sweetness and spice mix. Has a slight soapy and leathery feel. Ends with a mild spice note. Terrible aroma but nice flavour.

A orange beer with sediment floating around and a fine white head. Both the aroma and flavor is sweet with notes of coriander and oranges. The body is a little thin.

Bottled. Hazy reddish brown colour with huge off-white creamy head, lots of lace. Aroma is barnyard mixed with strawberries, citrusfruits, yeast and some earth. Also some parfumes are present. Flavour is strawberry, barnyard, pepper, fruits and yeast. Lovely mouthfull of flavour. Aftertaste is hops, yeast and some fruits.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a tall, dense, handsome head with excellent retention. Spicy aroma with some yeast. Medium body with a light malt base. Dry as a bone with the same astringent, leathery bitterness as found in Orval - although not as refined. But quite interesting. 211007

Nut brown. Spicy and aromatic. Malty, dryish and well balanced.

30th September 2008. Cloudy brown beer. Extraodinary tasting beer. Very strong sourish ginger and caraway but there is no burn from the ginger (if thatís what it is made with). Dry finish with quite a bit of hops. An eye opener the flavour of this one but not in a good way!

Cloudy amber color; big creamy head. Malty aroma; grass; hop flowers. Malty, good body structure, a bit aggressive (carbonation, lupolone) with very good hop notes, peculiar for Belgian (Dutch) Ales; very bitter. Long final, strong, partially aromatic. Thanks Jacob (LŲvenlund) for this very good beer.
