COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A barley wine brewed in the English style. Struis is a full-bodied beer with a deep, dark colour and a soft, long-lasting head. The aroma is dark and sweet, with clear tones of chocolate and dried fruit. The aftertaste is dry and long-lasting, and leaves you yearning for more. A delicious accompaniment to food and ideal with skeapsrond cheese. Struis is only available as a bottled beer.

BaroneBirra (461) - Gorizia, ITALY - FEB 11, 2017
Bottle in Amsterdam. Deep brown, small tan head. Almost no aroma. Sweet taste, syrup and molasses, some porto notes. Oily texture. Overall, quite easy drinkable

nephirem (496) - CROATIA - FEB 11, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Clear deep ruby pour with minimal off-white head. Very visible carbonation. Smell is herbal, liquory, malty. Strong caramel malts presence. Medium body. Carbonation surprisingly aggressive, a bit higher then expected. Average texture, ok on the tongue. Would be much smoother paired with softer carbonation. Bittersweet mouthfeel. A bit sticky. Aroma is malty and herbal. Caramel, toffee, herbal liquor. Pine. A touch of sugary sweetness, but not imposing. Slight alcohol burn on the tongue, leading to a boozy bitter finish. Overall, clean and crisp. Good one.

Bottle. Dark red color with small-mexium head. Cocoa, malt and vanilla aromas. In taste also some chocolate with dates and caramel. On sweet side. Medium-full body. Overall: good one. Just maybe too sweet for me.

Bottle, huge thanks Hrvoje L.! Poured a very clear ruby body with a small off white head. Looks great. Fine, heavy malty aroma, soft enoguh. Soft, sweet malty taste, plum and honey. Sweetish, almost no alcohol on the palate. A nice sipper indeed. Great job t Ij!

CraftBeerNick (2467) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2016
Bottle at home, 3rd December 16. Pours a dark caramel colour, no head. Aroma is dark burnt sugar, creme brle crisp, mollasses. Taste is smooth, dark bitter caramel, creme brle toping, brandy crisp, smooth, delicious, not overly sweet, probably one of the best straight barley wines Ive had, maybe I was just in the mood for it, great.

Dark fruits, chewy caramel and toffee, Belgian yeast characteristic dominate. Reminds me very much of Belgian strong ales! Decent.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2016 Aroma: chocolate biscuit, caramel, roasted coffee ; Appearance: very dark brown with very small tan head ; Taste: medium sweetness, mildly bitter ; Palate: full body, minimal aftertaste. Overall a very good barley wine. But "Lancelot Samain 11.1" is cheaper and almost exactly similar, and very easily found in my home town. So yes this beer is awesome, but I will go for the local cheaper equivalent.

Glass, Dark brown beer, small head. Aroma is malty, dark fruit, plums, caramel and alchol. Taste is the same, quite some alcohol

Hopmaestro (1625) - rebro, SWEDEN - NOV 9, 2016
Aroma is malty and sweet with images of dried fruits, caramel, christmas candy and raisins swirling around in my head. Taste is smooth and sweet, mild dark fruit notes, soothing sweetness and fainted flowers. A subtle warming effect from the alcohol in the end. Even if I want to say that this one is a little too classical and "English", I cant deny the fact that it was a really good barley wine.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2017 niby strus, a jednak nie strus... niemniej: dosc intensywne aromaty suszonych i kandyzyowanych owocow (rodzynki, figi, sliwki), sporo przyprawowosci (jakbym mial nazwac: imbir i gozdziki) - ewidentne belgijskie klimaty, jakies przejrzale jasne owoce, jakis miod gryczany, nieco ziolowosci. w ustach niemalo ciala, choc wyklejajace czy bardzo geste w porownaniu z zawodnikami wagi ciezkiej a la Weer & wind to nie jest. Slodkawe. powtorka z aromatow. dosc pijalne. dosc dlugie, przyprawowo-ziolowe posmaki. goryczka niewysoka acz obecna. Sumarycznie: niezle, ciekawe, cos pomiedzy brytolskim barley wine a ciemnym belgiem z nalecialosciami (jak dla mnie: az za duzymi nalecialosciami) swiatecznego... pozdrowy bjcpowcy ;)
