A barley wine brewed in the English style. Struis is a full-bodied beer with a deep, dark colour and a soft, long-lasting head. The aroma is dark and sweet, with clear tones of chocolate and dried fruit. The aftertaste is dry and long-lasting, and leaves you yearning for more. A delicious accompaniment to food and ideal with skeapsrond cheese. Struis is only available as a bottled beer.

Good & Sweet. Easy to drink, with a malty bitterness at the end. In der Nase viel säuerlich beerige Würzaromen. Und diese kehren dann auch im Trunk, nachdem sich der Schaum gelichtet hat, wieder zurück. Nett and very british. 0,33l Bottle direkt from the Brewery in Ämsterdamned. Ca.2,50€.

Dark mahogany. Rich, slightly vinous, aroma with ripe fruit and some alcohol. The flavour follows the aroma, with a solid malt profile and somewhat pungent spicy notes. Sweetish taste with light bitterness. Medium body. Overall, a pretty decent barley wine with a good aroma. Not as rich and complex as one would expect from a beer of this style, and a bit too pungent.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2016 Bottle at home. Clear dark brown with red hue. Thin creme head. Sweet barley malt, prune, chestnuts, quite a fierce alcoholic note. Big sweet and some tea leaf dry bitterness, and a lost grain of salt. Over medium body, low carbonation. Alcoholic kick is pretty strong and makes the otherwise soft carbonation come out a bit spikey. Bittersweet maple syrup finish.
