COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A barley wine brewed in the English style. Struis is a full-bodied beer with a deep, dark colour and a soft, long-lasting head. The aroma is dark and sweet, with clear tones of chocolate and dried fruit. The aftertaste is dry and long-lasting, and leaves you yearning for more. A delicious accompaniment to food and ideal with skeapsrond cheese. Struis is only available as a bottled beer.

The beer pours a hazy dark amber color with a khaki head. Sweet dark fruit and brown sugar on the nose. A mild toasted quality, some yeast, and a bit of molasses. The flavor is also rather heavy on the sugar and dark fruit characteristics. Some molasses, toffee, and toast. Maybe a hint of spices, some yeast, and that’s about it. Just quite sweet and not terribly complex or interesting.

Little bit sour at first, caramel, heavy maltiness, pretty boozy, toffee, raisin, little bit of corn. Clear ruby to coppery color, small off-white to light brown head. Taste is mostly caramel, pretty sweet, some alcohol but not too much, dried fruit, some figs, chocolate, brown caramelized sugar. Medium to medium-full body, bit creamy, soft carbonated. Complex, maybe some off-balanced sweetness, still very good.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2017 Almost no foam. Smell of raisins, rye and roasted bread and parmesan. Flavours of raisins, slight charcoal, some dates, bread, rye, subtle plummy notes, dried fruits. Bitterness is balanced, as is the sweetness.

Barwa brunatno rubinowa, piana be?owa, ?rednio wysoka i raczej nietrwa?a. Redukuje si? do cieniutkiego pier?cienia. Aromat karmelowy, s?odowy, s? nuty ?wie?ego ciasta, wanilii, w tle rodzynki i kurz. Smak: s?odowo??, "zborzowy kurz", rodzynki i suszone, ciemne owoce, akcenty ciasta z wanili?. Goryczka pojawia si? na finiszu, jest sucha, uwydatnia nuty mokrego drewna. Idealnie schowany alkohol, nasycenie ?rednie w kierunku do niskiego, sprawdza si? idealnie.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear deep ruby pour with minimal off-white head. Very visible carbonation. Smell is herbal, liquory, malty. Strong caramel malts presence. Medium body. Carbonation surprisingly aggressive, a bit higher then expected. Average texture, ok on the tongue. Would be much smoother paired with softer carbonation. Bittersweet mouthfeel. A bit sticky. Aroma is malty and herbal. Caramel, toffee, herbal liquor. Pine. A touch of sugary sweetness, but not imposing. Slight alcohol burn on the tongue, leading to a boozy bitter finish. Overall, clean and crisp. Good one.

Bottle. Dark red color with small-mexium head. Cocoa, malt and vanilla aromas. In taste also some chocolate with dates and caramel. On sweet side. Medium-full body. Overall: good one. Just maybe too sweet for me.
