The first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the classic beer of Brouwerij ‘t IJ. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger, blonde beers in Belgian tradition. Zatte more than lives up to expectations in this respect. It is a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious beer that can be enjoyed in all seasons.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2016 Big thanks to Brian for getting this. Light body very fizzy. A bit tart. Serving: Bottle

nathanvc (639) - Brugge, BELGIUM - OCT 4, 2017
Bottle from an Albert Heijn in Ghent. Pours clear pale orange with a diminishing, off-white head. The aroma contains yeast, fruits (orange, mango), hops, grain, malt and bread. It tastes medium to light fruity sweet and light to medium bitter; the finish is hoppy, slightly dry and bready. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. A typical IJ beer, so all in all, quite good.

Keg at BD Mighty Boost, 22/09/17. Golden orange with a decent off white head. Nose is tangy citric peel, fruit loaf, grains, straw. Taste comprises caramel, light spice, fruit slice, dried fruits, orange peel. Medium plus body, light spritzy carbonation, hint of warming alcohol in the close. Decent for style ... not runaway sweet and balanced by a tarte fruit edge.

Bottle at 't Bierhuys Woerden. Hazy gold white head. Good yeast aroma. Bananas esters. Ok ester pale ale. Good stuff. Easy drinking.

Tap at Cafe Proust - Amsterdam: Traditional Belgian aroma with ripe banana. Zingy floral notes. Tasty!

Backlog. Bottle at hamburger joint in Amsterdam. Unclear yellow with a nice white head. Slightly spicy and floral with honey. Lightly sweet with a medium body. Lacks the punch and elegance of the best tripels but this is overall highly enjoyable.

Trolleo (1717) - Pula / Zagreb, CROATIA - AUG 24, 2017
Yeast, honey, toasted bread (?) aroma, some flower, spices and wood. Cloudy orange color with small to medium sized white head and lacing. Medium to heavy sweet, pleasant candy, banana, some orange zest. Medium to full body, silky, lively carbonation. Nice sweet banana finish. //bottle from Pivoteka

Ritzn (1709) - GERMANY - AUG 24, 2017
Clear golden with little white head. Aroma is dandelions caramel clove vanilla. Taste is sour and bitter wheat with nothing much else. Harsh and oily. Bad.

Lupulus13 (28) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - AUG 23, 2017

MarkoNm (2880) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - AUG 14, 2017
On tap at brewpub. Pours hazy golden, topped with medium creamy white head. Yeasty nose with quite noticeable citrusy notes. Taste is yeasty with quite spicy presence that flows into aftertaste. Medium body.

From a bottle. No head to speak of, it instantly disappeared. I don’t know while people call this sweet...no taste at all, just bitter bitter bitter in the end. No pleasent to drink at all, very thin. Dirty dishwater. Yuk.
