A dark and heavy ale - the strongest that the brewery has ever produced - in which three varieties of malt and two spices are utilised. It is brewed "in honour of" the Burgundian Babble Belt, a well known web-site on the Internet, where beer lovers can exchange all sorts of information.

bottle at Falling Rock Tap Denver. AROMA: complex, farmyard, nuts, ginger, caramel. TASTE: little sweet, little bitter OVERALL: an excellent quad-like barley wine that hides its alcohol well. Complex aromas, bit too sweet at times. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It looks like a clear copper coloured brew with a small but persistent head of foam, usual good lacing from a Belgian beer. The smell, well, its very similar to an aged UK Old or Barley Wine. Lots of caramel malt more than hinting notes of Port. Aged Thomas Hardy or JR Lees, anyone? The taste just verifies what I said about the smell, to the letter. Very nice mouthfeel with lightish carbonation to with the medium body It drinks like a champion of an Old Ale/Barleywine. I have to get more.

Beer formerly made for the Burgundian Babble Belt, with a creamy, yellowish white head, thick but not too stable, and a bronze colour, cloudy with deposit. Rich aroma of nutty malts, whisky, pear, caramel, ginger, liquorice, cheese, tobacco, white pepper, tomato, mango and, if youre familiar with their perfumes, the effectively used valerian and lemon balm also shine through. Sweet fruity taste, caramelly and nutty malt base, spicy (cloves and ginger), hint of lemon balm again but very subtle, warm alcoholic finish with floral, mild hoppiness; alcohol very well masked. This was a great spiced barley wine, too bad it isnt made anymore.

11.2 oz. bottle from Supermarket Liquors. Appearance: two fingers white head, dissipates quickly, burnt copper-orange, cloudy, ok lacing. Aroma: raisin, floral, oak, leather, earthy, caramel, some spice. Palate: light, alcohol texture, lively carbonation, malty finish. Taste: heavy dark malty sweetness to lighter more sugary sweet. Overall, very complex aroma, taste is solid, pretty much a quad to me.

11.2oz bottle, discounted from Party Source, I think. At first this poured a hazy brown red color, with a big khaki head, but that quickly fizzed away to nothing. No lace sticks. Carbonation was pretty soft and strong at first, but after I let i sit for a bit it quickly backed off and is now a very drinkable, lighter kind of smooth carbonation. These belgians, half of them are almost undrinkable during the first 10 minutes, but after they sit they get awesome. Its actually surprisingly drinkable after an hour of sitting around (I got distracted while rating this), and hides alcohol astoundingly well. Kind of a fuller, almost creamy body, lightly slick, with a lightly drying finish. Beguilingly smooth. Nice vanilla, dark fruit aromas, lighter spice. Moderate sweet taste, and alcohol is very well-hidden. Pretty tasty, impressive beglian strong ale. If its aged, it has really aged well.

You ever wanted to drink sausage? Here is your chance. This beer would go great along side some eggs and biscuits for breakfast. Hickory sausage meat. Sediment at the bottom to feast on. Enjoy

Pours a dark brown with a creamy rich head. Aroma of sweet malts and spices. Lots of alcohol with some alcohol burn. Finishes dry with flavors of dark fruit. Overall a nice beer.

Unique beer, a strong dark ale, brewed with dates. Its sweet, yeasty, malty and fruity in a special way. Very good.

Murky, barely translucent, burnt orange ale. No head. Lots of toffee in the nose with additional notes of pear, dried plum and cinnamon. The flavor is sweet and malty up front, but the alcohol and hops do a good job of balancing things out to keep the brew from being cloyingly sweet. Dried plum and chocolate. Medium-bodied and watery with almost no carbonation. The high ABV is well-hidden. Lengthy, malty finish that dries out at the end. A bit Overrated, this one. Its just too sweet!
