Aroma is moderate to light heavy hay, straw, pine needle, notes in the finish of licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, finish is dry. (Flavor is young and fresh). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to lively. (A very nice beer but a Imperial Stout ? no it’s a nice beer) (140208) yespr (45412) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 8, 2008

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2008 Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour (quite close to black). Aroma is spices, roasted malts, yeast and also some dry dark fruits. Flavour is spices, roasted malts, some wood, smoke and ashes. Very strange sweetish, but smoked and roasted brew. Still works quite well though. omhper (25095) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - OCT 26, 2011
Bottled at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Nut brown, small head. Aroma of hazelnuts and caramel. Mid sweet with rounded spritzy mouthfeel and medium-full body. Plenty of coffee, some marzipan. Slight salty bitterness. Mouthfilling and relaxed. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 19, 2008
(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of BelJohansen. Pours a hazy, orangey brown with floating impurities and a tall, beige head that leaves some laces. Aroma of burned malt and yeast. Full-bodied with sweet, burned malts and yeast. Distinctly bitter finish - mainly from the hops I believe. Again a rather different Belgian take on an Impy. 160408 madmitch76 (24789) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 7, 2012

Cloudy chocolate brown beer. Huge foamy biscuit coloured head. Soft malt nose, hint of smoke. Fresh tasty malt, quite fruity for the style and with a little milk chocolate and a pleasing amount of smoke. Finishes with more of the same. Interesting RIS, not rich, thick and sumptuous but wins with it’s dark fruits and chocolate.
dark and dense brown with a massive head that settles quickly to thin bubbles with whitewash lacing.
Aroma has raisins, dates and lots of esthers and ketones, smells like a chemistry lab experiment.
Taste starts off with sweet dark fruit and chocolate, then acidity creeps in, then intense smokiness. Nicely complex and interesting.
Not quite chewy, but substantial body.
Not sure I can deal with the aroma, maybe it will grow on me. Maybe laying it down for a year will help. For nor, it’s decent enough to give it a try.
