t Smisje Kerst pours a dark iced tea color with a thick white head that fades off quickly. It does leave some lace on the glass even without much of a head. The aroma has sweet ripe fruit notes with bready malts and earthy yeast. The medium body is full of malts, yeast and coriander. Sweet and sour fruit notes pop out then fade off into a light bitter hops finish. Over all it’s a very good, but average, Belgian ale.

Yeast laden aroma of candied dark fruits and brown sugar. Murky tan color. Very sweet taste, not really getting the spice here. Tart almost, but not quite there. Prickly like cola while cloying like a malt heavy strong beer should be. Feels about 9%, so it’s cooled down relatively speaking. I’m guessing two or three years on the bottle. Another powerful Belgian, not quite brune but not blonde either. radagast83 (8141) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Draft at the Alexandria Rustico location. Poured a slightly hazy amber-orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma was lots of sweet malt notes, toffee, caramel notes. Flavor was nice hops, light fruits, alcohol is there, but subdued for 11%. A touch of something that tasted a bit tart, sweet malts. Enjoyable.

brown, cloudy, minimal head, tan foam, full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long finish, heavy cloying sweetness, medium bitterness, teorn88 (7682) - Rimini, ITALY - DEC 24, 2013
33cl bottle. Pours an orange body with a medium off-white head. Little lasting foam. Aroma is great and complex: mostly malty with coockie, grain and something toasted, some yeasty sweetness too. Alcoholic warm. Flavor is mostly sweet, then a bit bitter, and finally sweet again in the finish. Full bodied beer, very cloudy in the appearance. Lively carbonation. 11 ABV but still very well balanced and easy drinkable. A joyous experience! michcam8 (567) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 12, 2013
On tap at 101 Beer Kitchen. Nice looking Belgian ale in the glass. Roasted malt flavor, belgian sugars, spice, dark fruits, and candy. Somewhat tart and sour on the palate, but not overwhelming, and a nice compliment to the flavor. Very enjoyable beer. Would purchase again. ericdevin (988) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - DEC 9, 2013
Draft at Stumbling Monk, Seattle. Pours a cloudy medium plum brown, decent amount of off white head. Aroma is rich and fruity, dried fruit and a bit of coriander. Body is well-balanced, combines a liveliness with a richness owing to the ABV. Finish is surprisingly mellow. Little to no warming, and a fruity sweetness. Not generally the kind of thing that I go for, but points for being really well done. jdavidh (164) - California, USA - DEC 6, 2013
Had on draft at Beer Revolution in Oakland, 11/24 - hard to find on the beerbuddy app =/
Lots of kandi sugar, spice, and alcohol burn. Nose is mostly sugar and is somewhat cloying.
