375mL stubby bottle poured into a 12 oz Corsendonk goblet. 2006 bottle, ~7 years old. Purchased in 2008 while on a trip to Belgium. Has traveled with me for a while. I was hoping to share this with Schroppfy one day but never got a chance and I can’t move this another time. Been mostly closet cellared this whole time but been in the fridge for the past year. Finally popping this open before moving to Chicago. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2011
As soon as I pop this cap a strong aroma pours out. Can’t place it but a bit astringent. It pours with a small bubbly head, fizzes pretty loudly. A small vortex of carbonation forms in the middle of the glass. The head fizzes itself out. Color is deep dark golden, clear. Aroma is strong with what I believe is the sloe berry. It’s a lively astringent berry, a distant berry like cousin of juniper. This character us bright, tart, and slightly gin-pine. Unfortunately, there is a present cardboard from the age. Expected but surprisingly not as strong as one would expect from such an old beer. Flavor is surprisingly missing any signs of cardboard (or at least super light). The flavor is suprisingly clean lacking the very doughy house yeast. The whole mouthfeel is actually pretty light and well carbonated. The major flavor most be this slow berry. It’s very cool actually - very tart with a berry essence. Finish with a long almost lambic like tartness. This was a very nice surprise, I was expect something undrinkable and got a nice delight.
Pours a red color with no head. The taste is sweet, fruity with loads of rasberry flavors. Finshes slight sour and balanced. Light dry palate. Travlr (25749) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 19, 2011
Draft. Certainly a unique beer. But this one was had an unpleasant aroma of strong spice, and a taste of metal and cardboard. BrewBoxer (2657) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Draft at ginger man. Smells of rasberries, cirtus and sprite. Tastes watered down with a funkky aftertaste. Really nothing more to describe here. Blah

On tap at Churchkey DC. Pours a hazy orange with a cloudy white head. Nose is a little malty, lightly fruity but otherwise... non existent. Flavor is bizarre; berry, pepper, rubber bands, sweet, smoke, tart. Finish is full bodied with more of that rubber band. This is a total train wreck.
