Tap. pours out a dark brown topped with a sand head. Aroma was fresh hops, roast malts, and some sweetness. Taste was more of the fresh hop notes and the roast malts a bitter end.
(Draught) Pours a clear amber-brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, pine, cocoa, and coffee. Flavor of roasted malt, grass, and baking cocoa with a thin, watery mouthfeel for the style. IndianaRed (4546) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 14, 2011
On tap at the 2011 BrewforiaFest. Dark brown, not exactly black. Full dense sandy colored head. Nice fresh hoppy aroma. Big bitter hip flavor with a modest roastiness. Light bodied and a long lingering bite. Lacking the character of many other regional CDAs or BIPAs but decent. BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - MAY 12, 2011
Tap @ Bittercreek: Dark black color with a tan head. The nose has a simple fresh orange and pine note with a big roasty coffee and chocolate note with a simple porter feel. The hops bitterness is in line with the roast levels, but the roast is a bit bigger and more pronounced bringing this more into porter levels. Nice balanced finish though with a clean mouthfeel. Good.
