First of all, thanks to everyone who made this rating possible - Simon, Mark, Andre and of course Kim Jong-Il, who had the vision to purchase the Usher’s brewery to improve the Pyongyang beer scene.

Light amber colour. Faint whisp of head dies quickly. Industrial-sized bubbles. The aroma is clean, mainly biscuity pale malt. The flavour is fairly clean as well, still leaning towards the malt, though it’s not as expressive as in the aroma. The beer is fairly sweet and full-bodied. The hops are restricted to a background earthy note. Yes, it looks terrible, but its one of the most enjoyable pale lagers in its weight class.

weekly shared by SHIG-pours a white head with yellow/gold color. Aroma is lemon/grass, euroskunk (lager), hay/light malt. Taste is lemon/grass hops, hay/light malt. Wow, from North Korea a quite drinkable beer.
Medium white lasting head. Clear yellow body. Sweetish malty aroma with a touch of honey or grape juice. Taste is sweet malts with floral hop background. Grainy aftertaste. A bit watery. No off taste. Faint bitterness. Decent. (0.5l bottle.) burg326 (5593) - Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Bottle shared from SHIG, came in a green bottle, that poured a hazy light yellow color, with a straw, hoppy aroma. Flavor was the same as the aroma. SHIG warned us about it the whole night, but it wasn’t the worst beer that I had, nor the worst of the night.... thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 5, 2010
500 ml bottle bought in a DMZ gift shop. Pale golden with a small head. Malty and hoppy aroma. Flavours are moderately bitter. Not the worst pale lager in the market.

Bottle: Picked this up at the DMZ. Straight from the first pop I thought this could be interesting. The flood of skunk cock filled the room. Poured a clear golden color with huge white foam head, that seemed to not stop. The aroma seemed of stale sour grain. The flavor and taste however was not bad as it had metallic grain and fresh grass, a little watery. Not bad for as little as there is from North Korea. 640ml bottle at 4,5% with a different label. Hazy (!) straw colored with a small white head. Nice rather hoppy pilsner aroma, mild and fresh. Mild and a bit buttery in the flavor with some hops in the background. Not bad at all and definately one of the better international lagers I have tasted. Nice to see an unfiltered one :) Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 8, 2012
Bottle, thanks to Cole. I can genuinely say that this is a country I would never have a rating from. Very classy green bottle, with no English on the label whatsoever. Pours clear pale yellow into my Minneapolis Town Hall glass; thick and foamy white head, poor lacing. Nose is skunky hops, fresh creamed corn, a bit of metal. Flavours of clean earth, creamed corn, really no major faults here... No DMS, no diacetyl, honestly quite pretty- a total surprise! SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Courtesy Shig. Lightstruck pale lager. Dry finish. Balanced body. Middle of the road, as expected. Cool as hell to try a commie beer though. Thanks Shig! Pyobon (1481) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JAN 1, 2017
(Bottle) Pours clear golden with good white head. Aroma is part malty, part grainy, with a slight metallic edge. Light body, with good carbonation. Pleasantly malty, with some candy hints and the very slightest bitterness in finish. It’s better than the leading beers of many of the neighbouring countries, and quaffable, but it’s not great.
