(Bottle) Pours clear golden with good white head. Aroma is part malty, part grainy, with a slight metallic edge. Light body, with good carbonation. Pleasantly malty, with some candy hints and the very slightest bitterness in finish. It’s better than the leading beers of many of the neighbouring countries, and quaffable, but it’s not great. I have been avoiding beer on this trip to Asia (since so much of it is so poor) but couldn’t pass up the chance to pay $10 for a bottle of North Korean beer. A fairly standard pale lager. Drinkable but only memorable because of its rarity. varanid99 (1317) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 15, 2012
Rating is probably biased by the fact that I was drinking it in a revolving restaurant in Pyongyang, so it is probably not as good as the numbers suggest. Yellow pour, fairly creamy head which dissipated quickly. A little corn and grass on the nose. Quite dry, similar to South Korean/Japanese lagers. Not at all awful - quite pleasantly surprised. PoUrs yellow with a thin head. Mild skunky hop aroma. Flavor is nice a little thin with mild hops. Not bad at all. Tastes like most Asian lagers, but it is put together very well. Thank you Patrick & Carly & the all the other people along the way who handled this beer to get it to me. Thanks again. Savvy1982 (1706) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 8, 2012
Bottle, thanks to Cole. I can genuinely say that this is a country I would never have a rating from. Very classy green bottle, with no English on the label whatsoever. Pours clear pale yellow into my Minneapolis Town Hall glass; thick and foamy white head, poor lacing. Nose is skunky hops, fresh creamed corn, a bit of metal. Flavours of clean earth, creamed corn, really no major faults here... No DMS, no diacetyl, honestly quite pretty- a total surprise!

A dry lager similar to south Korean crap lagers. Nothing remarkable here except for the novelty GodOfThunder (1249) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 2, 2012
Comrade SHIG, I salute you. Following the passing of Kim Jong-Il, Solan and I raised our glasses in honor of our departed red bretheren. A full-frontal assault on the olfactory sense, from the most loyal of communist skunks, left me praising Chairman Mao. The flavor is packed with the finest rice from rural Pyongyang, and the sweat from fairly compensated laborers. Joseph Stalin, himself, would be proud to quaff this brew with his comrads. Courtesy Shig. Lightstruck pale lager. Dry finish. Balanced body. Middle of the road, as expected. Cool as hell to try a commie beer though. Thanks Shig! jcwattsrugger (12518) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 3, 2011

weekly shared by SHIG-pours a white head with yellow/gold color. Aroma is lemon/grass, euroskunk (lager), hay/light malt. Taste is lemon/grass hops, hay/light malt. Wow, from North Korea a quite drinkable beer.
Bottle shared from SHIG, came in a green bottle, that poured a hazy light yellow color, with a straw, hoppy aroma. Flavor was the same as the aroma. SHIG warned us about it the whole night, but it wasn’t the worst beer that I had, nor the worst of the night....
