Bottle from the brewery in Truckee. Poured into a snifter. A slightly hazy light golden color. Off white head. Subtle smoke aroma with lots of oak. Slightly tart flavor with oak-vanilla and light sweet smoke. Hints of Bourbon. Gets better with the second glass, but I wish the smoke was more pronounced. Good anyhow. popery (2231) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 5, 2015
The color is a light amber gold. Pretty cloudy. Smallish white creamy head. The aroma is lightly smoky. There’s some nice doughy malt flavor with a caramel sweetness. Definite hit of booze. A little bubblegum. Mild spice and a touch of citrus. Taste similarly has some alcohol harshness, which sticks out as the beer is otherwise pretty soft and sweet. Smoke is still mild. The malt is soft and doughy. Fairly sweet. Feel is a bit sticky. I’ve liked most of what I’ve tried from Tahoe Mountain, but this is a miss. bhensonb (16137) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 18, 2015
Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours translucent copper with a beige head. Aroma of smoke and mild malt. Med body at least. Flavor is smoked, really, with some caramel and what seems to be pepper. That might be the smoke intensity. It’s even woody. In a burnt sort of way. I’m thinking smoked meat. Quite a different beer. Bottle at home, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks man! Pour is clear orange with a big white head and sticky lacing. Smoke, caramel, bready, somewhat boozy, herbal , straw, and dough in the aroma. Taste is tangy, bready, husky, lemony, some biscuit, grassy, floor cleaner, and nutty with a sour bitter finish. Light body with high carbonation. Not good. cubs (10745) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - APR 24, 2015
Bottle @ home, thanks to bytemesis for sending! Thanks Mike. Pours a reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Creamy dark caramel, some orange, pecans, and a bit of roast. A little creamy. Moderately bitter and sweet. Weird flavor. Some nuts and chocolate. Ehhh, ok.

"Good bock...smoke aspect was a bit of a letdown. Malty and bready up front. The smoke was light and yet didn’t seem to belong. Not off putting, but really didn’t add anything to the beer." joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - MAR 17, 2014
On tap at Ol bottleshop in Walnut Creek. It pours a clear golden color with an off white head. The aroma has lightly salty smoke with some summer fruit and bread. The flavor is bready with nice low levels of meaty smoke, light caramel and earthy bitterness on the back end. Very velvety mouthfeel. Understated, but good smokiness. Really nice beer.
