Taiwanese version of a hop forward beer showcasing the extraordinary complexity of hop aroma, this IPA is thoroughly tropical fruit on the nose. Oats and wheat in the malt bill support, but don’t overshadow, the hops on the palate, and a long finish with a soft, Cl-driven hop bitterness lends this staple supreme drinkability.
A hazed translucent golden ipa with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with pungent resinous floral hops, tropical fruit, light dankness, pleasant. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with loads of citrusy floral hops, dank and herbaceous, citrus pulp, light lychee, very nice and surprisingly. Can from Beer Bee, kaohsiung, 140NTD.
One pint draft from BeerGeek Micropub in Taipei (dink local!). This IPA, also known as Tropical Thunder pours a cloudy deep golden shade topped off with a decent head of white froth. Aromas live up to the "tropical" name - filled with an explosion of fruity and citric hops, almost like a fruit basket! Taste follows the aromas, strongly fruity hoppy in nature, with interesting notes of passionfruit and mangoes and a whole bunch of fruit. There is an underlying bitter to the taste and this xtends out to the shortish finish for a nice balance of flavours. MOderate carbonation and a medium body also give it a nice mouthfeel. Worth repeating, if there weren’t so many other brews from Taihu to try!
This is a nice IPA minus the nice, IPA nose. It’s clean and solidly bitter, medium bodied with brisk carbonation. It’s very drinkable, a touch fruity and almost tasty aside from the fact it smells like... Almost nothing. There is maybe a slight herbal tinge and that’s about it. It’s not bad but with some more late hopping, it could be really good.
