Just like those classic video games we all grew up with, 8-Bit Pale Ale is spectacularly simple at first glance yet remarkably fun and complex when you get into it. Our Hop Rocket infuses the character of Australian grown Galaxy Hops into an American Pale Ale, giving a unique tropical, almost melon aroma in a classic American style.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2016 On tap poured into a shaker. Mellow and light notes of grass and caramel start this one out, but that gives way to more fruity notes, particularly mango, orange, and assorted melon notes. It pours a golden pale color with a touch of orange and haze to it. An abundant, soft white head tops it, and slowly disappears to a thin dishwater layer, but leaves an above average lacing down the glass. The taste is very nicely balanced between medium sweetness and medium bitterness. A slick, smooth texture accompanies the medium body with a soft, yet somewhat fizzy, average level of carbonation. Mostly caramel and sweet citrus greet the tongue with a slight tartness that only appears at the swallow. Theres a zesty citrus and grass hop bitter finish, but it mellows rather quickly leaving behind a light resin and grapefruit aftertaste with some toasty malt quality to it.

Tulip glass. Velvety smooth hops odor. Malty mouth feel. The hops have a nice rich flavor.

Good solid american pale ale. But the can design alone would sell me on this.

Can from RobertDale thanks for the opportunity! Hazy light golden color with a huge frothy white head that persists forever before leaving tons of sticky lace. Tropical fruit and pine resin mixed with a bit of bready malt and a hint of sulfur make up the aroma. The flavor is bread and a hint of caramel with bits of resin and grapefruit. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous mouthfeel. decent pale ale, I could drink this.

Can while working on my shelving project. Pours hazy gold with big head. Nose of pine and spice. Tastes of sticky pine sap, peppery, resin, lemongrass, and floral. Slight sticky palate but overall nice and I like tha can. I spent about 4 hours of my life in Kansas mostly in the car driving through farmland but glad I finally get to enjoy one of their beverages.

An Australian hopped American Pale Ale is a pretty weak way to celebrate 2pac day, but I guess its about as good as I can do this year.

The aroma has some lightly fruity hops, some fall leaves... & some lightly toasty maltiness. Its nice, I guess the hop bouquet leaves me wanting a little bit though, just offers the tip.

The flavor is well balanced, lightly sweet but satisfyingly bitter, its got a good zippy citrus hop character working alongside a bright maltiness that has some mild toasty notes.

Its agreeable beer on all accounts, its not a hop bomb by any stretch but rather a beer that utilizes hops very well.
Suffice to say I dont think that 2pac would have liked this beer very much at all.

First off, the can for this is great. The picture doesnt do it justice. It has cool retro video game graphics around the whole thing, not just one one side. Once its out of the can, its a very hazy orange color w/ a giant rocky head. Its a hoppy pale ale w/ an emphasis on floral and mineral notes, which always kind of remind me of baby powder--not in a bad way. This is a dry, drinkable beer w/ just a touch of bitterness in the finish. Definitely, this is a good pale ale but it doesnt really have the fresh, vibrant, hoppy notes to make it stand out in what is a very crowded pack these days.

Grassy aroma. Full mouth. Taste is light and flowery. Hints of grain. Slightly dry. Cloudy golden pour. Slight wet cardboard thing going on. Long bitter finish. May have been a really old can.

A solid pale ale in one of the coolest cans youll ever see. Tallgrass isnt a brewery that skimps on hops, and this isnt an exception. The Galaxy hops create a tropical, citric quality that shows up in the aroma and taste. Its also a hazy, heady brew. In all, very nice. A stellar beer from Tallgrass.
