BUFFALO SWEAT
(ABV 5.0%, 20 IBU)

We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those Ive never-tasted-a-beer-like-that kind of moments when you try it!

What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

Cant find the sweat? Dont sweat it. Just ask for Buffalo Sweat at your local liquor store or your favorite tavern.

Tap, pours a dark brown with a khaki colored head, sweet taste of cream, chocolate, some vanilla, and roasted malt, has a little coffee bitter finish, it is a touch on the thin side but still a very solid stout.

This is one big flop in my book. Ive enjoyed most of the Tallgrass beers, but this is pretty undrinkable. Just very hard to put down. Some roasty malts typical of the style, but harsh otherwise. Some rotten egg and cheap artificial flavor that I cant put my hands on. Tried it as a vanilla ice cream float which made it slightly more drinkable, but still not good. Glad I only purchased 2 of these as it was in a sampler pack. Unfortunately the cans were 16 ounces though.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2011 Can. Pours very dark brown with a hint of red around the edges. Very small tan head. Coffee dominates the aroma. Flavor is coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malt, a bit of tartness, and a slight earthiness. Theres a really odd flavor in here that I cant place -- sort of plasticky, burnt rubber. Finish is dry, particularly for a sweet (sweat?) stout. Body is on the light side. Not a very complex stout, but tasty. Im fairly impressed -- but I could do without that tartness.

This beer is black with a tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma isnt too strong or too muted, but the actual scent is a complex combination of caramel, vanilla, and toasty scents. When the beer hits your tongue, it is of a medium body with a very soft carbonation, yet it is slick and slightly sweet. The finish of this beer is hearty and more roasty than the initial taste would make you think. Surprisingly, it is quite easy to drink for a dark beer because of how thin yet hearty it is.

Pours a deep dark brown to black with a two-finger cappuccino head of foam that hangs out a while and leaves ropes of intricate lace behind. Nose involves toasted malt, roasted coffee, dark dried fruit, dark chocolate, nuttiness, and some zesty pine. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Light to medium bodied, active yet slick, fairly oily, with a roasted sweet chocolate and drying toasty bitter finish. A nice session dark ale.

16 oz can. Pours an deep, brown-black with a rootbeer-like head, decent retention. Nose is cocoa, some vanilla and butterscotch, roasted barley. Mouth is thin -- almost watery -- certainly not creamy as in the description, and wayyyyy too light on the palate. Im not saying a stout needs to be 10W40 by definition, but Ill honestly say Dr.Pepper has more body. Super-light sweetness (although not a natural sweetness... but Ill get to that), some cocoa, barley, wheat puffs, chocolate and some butterscotch. Speaking of soft drinks, this has an odd, almost diet soda aftertaste that doesnt leave any of the desirable traits on the palate that Id look for in a stout, but definitely plenty of the aforementioned aftertaste. Disappointed would be an understatement. Id rather have had spent the money on a stout as ubiquitous as Guinness (and wouldve had money left for a bag of chips).

Thus beer pours black with a thin off white head. The aromas are roasted coffee, chocolate. The mouthfeel is watery and bitter with alight body. Cheers!

Can from Norms. Pours a thin black with a light tan head. Very strong aroma, not particularly appetizing. Very metallic and almost like spoiled milk. Hints of roasted malt and chocoalte. Very sweet flavor with metallic caramel. Milk chocolate notes. Watery finish. Meh.

(Sample Date: 3/19/2011 Source:Butters) Chocolate with hints of vanilla and a vegetal or nutty quality. Clear dark amber brown with little head. Medium to light body with medium mouthfeel with a lactic sweetness. Lightly nutty with little hop flavor. Medium finish. Nice
